I have spent my entire adult life chasing mastery.

Over a decade, becoming the “go-to Marine”. Six years sculpting my body for the title of “professional bodybuilder”. Two decades studying the human body so deeply that it became my expertise, my identity, my life’s work.

I know what it takes to be excellent at something. I know the discipline, the sacrifice, the relentless pursuit of the next level. And for a long time, I thought that was just… who I was. Someone who doesn’t stop until she’s mastered it.

But here’s what nobody tells you about spending your whole life chasing mastery — you can forget how just to be a beginner. You forget the gift that lives in not-yet-knowing. You start to believe that if you’re not already good at something, you shouldn’t be doing it at all.

And that belief? It’s a cage.

Somewhere in the middle of this season, something shifted in me. I started a class in my Consciousness Master’s degree program called Creativity and Transformation, and in it, I learned something that sounds simple but cracked me wide open: creativity lives in the process. Not in the outcome. Not on arrival. In the messy, imperfect, beautiful middle.

So I tried something uncomfortable. I started celebrating small wins.

Not the big ones — those are easy to celebrate. I’m talking about the ones that feel almost too small to acknowledge. The five people who showed up to my masterclass. The handful of souls who came out to the bonfire. The small group that laced up their shoes and hiked with me. I started saying out loud: this matters. This is enough. This counts.

And something happened when I did that. I stopped measuring my worth against where I wasn’t and started actually being where I was. The apprentice seat stopped feeling like a consolation prize and started feeling like sacred ground.

Then — without chasing it — the bigger win came.

Hay House gave my second book an honorable mention in their book-writing contest.

I’m not going to pretend I didn’t cry. I did. But what moved me most wasn’t just the recognition — it was the realization that the small wins led to this. The consistency, the showing up, the celebrating tiny moments of connection… that’s what built the foundation.

We live in a world that glorifies the master and skips over the apprentice. But the apprentice is where character is built. Where humility lives. Where you fall in love with becoming instead of just being.

If you’re in the middle right now — unsure, learning, quietly wondering if it’s all adding up — I want you to know: it is.

Stay in it. Celebrate it. The process isn’t the obstacle to the destination.

It is the destination.
