Tell us a little bit about your story of awakening to spirituality and mindfulness. How did that come about in your life?
Bernadette Logue: So that was in very early 2010. I was not seeking it; I was just doing my corporate life and my traditional life and was not really into anything spiritual. I had studied personal growth for a while and was in a consulting firm doing HR recruitment work, just doing my life. But I was very cognizant of the fact that I was anxious, stressed, and felt like this can’t quite be it. Without me knowing it at the time, that’s one of the ways that the soul is stirring, asking existential questions like, “What’s the point of life?” I remember one day thinking, “Am I depressed? Why am I walking around asking questions like this?” At the same time, I was thinking, “Should I just have children? Is that what’s missing? I’ve got married, I’ve got my job; should I have kids?”
At the same time, two other things were happening. One was a friend of mine started saying to me, “I’ve been to see a spirit channeler, and it was really mind-blowing. You should go; it’ll blow your mind.” And I thought, “That sounds super weird. What’s that going to be about?” Also, I had a family member who was sick, and the doctors couldn’t find answers. They said, “We can’t fix it; there’s no solution.”
I found that unacceptable and decided I wasn’t going to accept that. All of this was bubbling at the same time: questioning life, seeking answers, people saying things to me. It was like a storm of events and synchronicities pushing me. Because I was unsettled and unhappy and didn’t know why, I went to the spirit channeler, which opened Pandora’s box. What followed was a series of events where I just followed synchronicities and signs, doing things I never thought I would do, trying to find answers to help this family member. It ended up being an explosion of a spiritual awakening.
When you went to this spirit channeler, what did he or she say or do, and how did that impact you?
Bernadette Logue: This person made themselves available as a space for a spirit to speak. It wasn’t odd at all, just unusual with the voice change and all. The being was extremely loving and very funny. The reason I listened, despite being extremely brainy and stubborn, was that he revealed things he couldn’t possibly have known, like the intricacies of my marriage dynamics and my approach to things.
There were messages that directly spoke to how I had been feeling and what I was battling with. They spoke directly to it, and a whole lot of other synchronicities at the time started saying the same thing, pointing me to my purpose. I started looking into it, getting curious, excited, and passionate. It was no mistake that your gifts blossom when you are in your lane. That’s what started happening, and we’ll talk about that later. When you get in your lane from a soul purpose point of view, all your fears and limitations come up because you’re designed to have them crumble away. You want to break the egg and evolve into your fuller, soulful self. So, I thought this was something worth investigating and diving into spirituality because everyone should be talking about this all the time.

How did this shift from personal exploration to wanting to help others?
Bernadette Logue: It happened fairly quickly because that was what was meant to happen. I’m not easily led down any path I don’t want to go down. Soul plan and purpose aren’t something that booms down from outside; it’s your own inner intuition, inspirations, and passions that guide you. I was already in a corporate job doing coaching and leadership, but I wanted peace and quiet. Life kept pushing me into leadership and coaching, and at the same time, I was exploring spirituality privately. I was doing energy healing and other interesting things that didn’t align with my work.
It became apparent that I couldn’t keep my mouth shut while coaching because I could see something else going on. I started with energy healing and performance life coaching, which quickly dovetailed into a bigger spiritual coaching practice. It was fairly organic. When I started writing my books, I was still in my corporate job with no intention of quitting. It all had a domino effect as I followed my nose.
Why is knowing our soul plan and purpose so important?
Bernadette Logue: I use that phrase specifically. In my book, I describe why I say it like that because “purpose” is often misunderstood. Your soul plan is purposeful. Your purpose isn’t just your career or job. It can be, and often is, but it’s much more magical and layered.
You’re not in your body by mistake. You’re here having the experience of being you because you chose it at a soul level. This means there’s a plan, or you wouldn’t be here. Your heart wouldn’t be beating if you were done, or you wouldn’t have come in the first place. So, the very presence of your beating heart and breath has purpose in this human life. When I studied this for nine years and coached people worldwide, I saw patterns and themes. There are four things you cannot escape being human, and they all have deep value and purpose.
You’re here for learning, healing, and growth, and those all feed each other. You’re here for contribution, which is what people call purpose. Your very being, just your presence, enriches my life. You don’t have to do anything. Your presence has enriched my life by you being you. Anything you do is like icing on the cake. So, that’s contribution and purpose, and all those four things feed each other. As you learn, heal, and grow, that becomes wisdom, and you use it to make a contribution. When you want to live with purpose, all your stuff comes up. You have to face your demons and blocks, learning, healing, and growing in the process. There’s this amazing synergy between these elements.
Some people believe that God has a plan for your life, and others believe that I had a plan for my life before I came here and now I’m living it out. Do you distinguish between whose plan it is? Is it God’s plan or my plan?
That’s such a good question. I love all faiths, all religions, all atheists, all spiritualists, and to me, we’re all talking about the same thing but using different words and labels to make sense of it. God, you—same difference. You are a child of creation. When you think about yourself coming into life, who are you at your core? If you say God, God’s not a guy in the sky. God is loving, benevolent, ever-present everywhere, all the time. What others call source, matrix, energy, love, consciousness, oneness—by all names, we honor it. You are absolutely a creation of that, one with that, and you still are now, but you’re also poured into a body. If we say that had a plan and you are that and you are born of that, you had a plan. It had a plan. We all had a plan, and there is no separation. In the mind of God, in oneness, in consciousness, there is no separation. At a granular level, your soul chose, and if there is a collective agreement, you’re in agreement to do that at a greater level.
If you are an aspect of the mind, an aspect of God, you are still in agreement. There is no coming forth kicking and screaming, and you’ve been left here abandoned. We can be hesitant, like, “I’ve done Earth before, not really up for this whole situation, but I know I need to go.” When I think about oneness, God, creator, universe, divinity, I think about it as this ever-present intelligence. I know I’m individuated now, but I also know there isn’t a separation. The overarching message I’ve been given is, “You are me, and I am you, and we are it,” so there is no division. It’s really weird and hard to wrap the head around—there’s no time, no place, no thing; it’s all one.
In your latest book Your Soul Journey Simplified: A Method for Aligning to Your Spiritual Path, you share 24 hurdles to aligning your spiritual path. One of them is “Challenges are not in the way; they are the way.” What do you mean by that, and how does that practically play out in our lives?
We’ve all probably heard sayings like Zen proverbs about the concept that the challenge is the path, the obstacle is the way. I wrote about that in the book because we torment ourselves trying to have a perfect, happy, and good life without problems. We label challenges as problems that shouldn’t exist and try to eradicate them. But once one challenge is gone, another appears. Challenges, despite being difficult, are sacred parts of our life journey because they serve a particular purpose—not all, but specific kinds of challenges.
In the book, I talk about challenges that act like boomerangs, the ones that just won’t go away and keep repeating. These can be about confidence, worthiness, money problems, communication issues, self-expression issues, and more. Repeating challenges are indicators of what you came here to master, not for suffering but for mastery. When faced with a challenge, we typically revert to childhood conditioning and run reaction patterns that don’t work. We go into victimhood, negative beliefs, fear, emotional struggle, and fight the problem, which wins. At some point, we wake up and realize we don’t want to fight life. The spiritual question then becomes, “What does my soul want me to learn in this situation so that I may master the lesson and rise as an evolved being?”
Through challenges, we become wiser, stronger, and more awesome. Have your greatest challenges made you wiser and stronger and sent you down paths you’re now glad you went down? You are a wise being because of the things, even the ones that put you on your knees.
I wouldn’t be doing this work if I hadn’t learned it through experience. I don’t have a coaching certificate; I’ve been through it all. I’ve faced my stuff, come out the other side, and stood up, asking, “What are you going to do with what you just learned?” Who are you going to be, in spite of what has gone on?
After multiple dark nights of the soul and deep, dark times, I’ve come out with immense self-forgiveness. We’re not designed to walk forward with regret. When we have regret, we haven’t made peace with the part of ourselves that needs love and compassion. It’s okay to make a mess of things and be human. When we make peace with that, we can turn regret into something powerful. I’ve experienced deep spiritual rising, and the message that resonates is, “Love yourself like God loves you.” It’s not about being perfect beings; we signed up to be human and to grow through our challenges.
Of the 24 hurdles you outline in the book, are there a couple that you find people most commonly come up against?
Yes, but I’ll twist the question slightly. One hurdle people never see happening because of its very nature is that we blind ourselves with smoke and mirrors, fooling and hiding from ourselves. We stay in our loop and story because we won’t look where we need to look due to a self-protection mechanism that avoids pain and keeps us safe. This mechanism keeps us tricking ourselves and not confronting the truth. We say, “I don’t know why I feel this way,” or “Life doesn’t give me what I want,” but if you scratch the surface, you’ll find a truth that needs confronting. The truth shall set you free.
And if you are blinding yourself with smoke and mirrors and you’re not willing to confront the truth about yourself and what you’re doing, that is keeping you chained. Life is not keeping you chained. We do it to ourselves a lot of the time. It doesn’t mean we don’t have trauma and pain that we have to deal with, and that’s very real. But there is this moment in your journey where you can really unleash and go, “I’m done. I’m going to look everything right in the face, I’m going to burn it off like a Phoenix rising, and I’m going to be done.”
I happened to marry a man who is all about the truth. If he sees something and says, “You’re fooling yourself,” he calls it out. We have a pact that we don’t let ourselves do that to ourselves or each other. It’s very easy to live in denial, but once you see things objectively and understand the spiritual side, you see the bigger picture. There’s an opportunity to not loop inside your story, and I think that’s a huge blind spot for everyone.
From a psychological conditioning point of view, you can’t spiritualize your way out of the fact that you have a body, a nervous system, and an emotional system. We are all conditioned psychologically. I didn’t give enough understanding to how important that is for everyone, for anything you want to do in life, and how closely it links to your soul and your connection to the divine. If you are locked in conditioning, you’re not connected. There’s a barrier, and you’re living through your conditioning. I used to say to my sister, “I didn’t have any conditioning from childhood,” and she would laugh and say, “That’s what they all say.”
Even with a great upbringing, you experience conditioning. It doesn’t matter where you come from or what you do; you have to see it and set yourself free.

A huge theme in the book is the 11 stages of what you call a Soul Odyssey. We’ve touched on it in our conversation, but the way you clearly broke down those 11 stages was really helpful. Would you mind walking through those briefly?
I’ll do a brief overview. They are nonlinear, but we have to put them in a timeline to make sense of them. They can happen in reverse order, all at the same time, or over and over again. It’s a way to describe your journey in a 3D reality where you think there’s time and a past, present, and future.
The first stage is pre-birth planning, acknowledging you’re not here randomly. Your lessons and gifts are different from mine, and you have a plan and purpose unique to you. The second stage is arrival and separation. You come from oneness and source into this world, experiencing a separation from your original state. This can create a sense of loss or abandonment that people feel even years later.
The third stage is conditioning, the psychological and emotional conditioning we all go through. It’s crucial to understand and release this conditioning to reveal who we really are. The fourth stage is challenges. We must face challenges with a spiritual perspective, seeing them as opportunities for growth and learning.
The fifth stage is the call to wake up inside the dream. This can be a spiritual wake-up call, a crisis, or something pushing you out of a place or situation that is no longer right for you. The sixth stage is rebirth and reconnection, reawakening to who you really are and reconnecting with divinity.
The seventh stage is creating and conscious living, realizing you are a creator in this reality with the ability to shape your life. The eighth stage is contribution, seeking more than material possessions and finding deeper meaning and purpose.
The ninth stage is transcendence, going beyond ego and drama, seeking peace for yourself and others through non-judgment, detachment, forgiveness, and other spiritual principles. The tenth stage is transition, understanding the sacredness of death and holding peace for it, so you can have peace in life.
The final stage is the invitation, an ever-present invitation from source to be awake and fully god-like in your life. There’s also an opportunity to invite divinity and universal intelligence into your life when you need it. This dual relationship helps us understand our souls’ journey, heal, grow, and have fun while doing great things here.
During some of those stages, particularly the waking up or the challenges, you may think, “Okay, I see the 11 stages of the Soul Odyssey. It helps me understand my path, but maybe I don’t like the stage that I’m in. I don’t like the chapter I’m in.” How do you help me embrace, accept, and celebrate the stage that I’m in, while also having this longing to maybe be in another stage?
The interesting thing is, apart from pre-birth planning and death—because those are the beginning and end of your life—everything in between you can activate at any time you want. So, there need be no longing. Who is to tell you at any age of your life that you can’t focus on the mastery of transcendence? Or that you can’t create and live consciously, or feel a connection to your divine source, or start to steer yourself awake to new levels of consciousness, or overcome challenges, or ditch your conditioning? You can do that whenever you want. The challenge isn’t about that. The challenge is more about not liking what you’re facing.
Here’s the great thing about life and mastery: let go or be dragged. You’re on a human ride called life, and you signed up, you bought the ticket. The more we resist and say no to what is, thanks to Eckhart Tolle’s wisdom, we all know what happens. It does not go well. On the spiritual path, one of the greatest traits we can step into is grace, where we do not act like a child fighting and screaming, saying no to what is already here. We look at it and say, “I don’t like it, I don’t want it, I don’t even want to hear that I chose it.” Great, let’s just focus on peace. Who would you have to be to have peace in this moment? How would you have to look at this to have peace in this moment? Fighting it and judging it won’t help, but here’s the fascinating thing about the soul journey: we’re in a quantum reality where it’s been proven that our consciousness shape-shifts matter and energy.
If you want to interact with a challenge and make it disappear, you start to utilize your creative capacity to interact with life, people, and situations—all of which are energy. Your energy influences these situations. So, when we forgive and not hold grievances, it’s not just spiritually beautiful; it also means we let go of intensely pouring negative energy, which means negativity stops showing up in the mirror of life. If you’re fighting against a stage you’re in, there’s a huge call to sit up and ask yourself, “Who are you going to be?”
Have you noticed as an adult that nobody’s coming to save us? When you’re young, you think your partner or the government will save you. No, no one’s coming. We have everything we need. We came to play, learn, be strong, powerful, and masterful. It’s in those moments of struggle that we gain the most on our spiritual journey. In the heat of the moment, you need to remember what you’ve learned from books, teachings, or your faith. Don’t run the same patterns anymore. Don’t fight with life.
We want life to give us something, yet we’re often fighting and hating it. We’re in a relationship with life, and it’s confused because we’re loving it and hating it. Come to a peaceful acceptance of life, look for the path of least resistance, be graceful, and co-create your reality.

Tell us about your free webinar that you’d like to share with us today. It’s called “Three Steps to Designing Your Soul-Aligned Life.” What is it all about, and who would be the best person to watch this?
That class is 90 minutes and is built upon a methodology I developed early on called Unleash Your Life. It’s based on seeing the truth, clearing the fog, and creating and blossoming. Those three stages directly relate to how you’re walking your soul journey. You have to see the truth of who you are and what’s going on, clear the fog of your stories and conditioning, and decide who you want to be in this world and what you want your life to be like.
Those are the three big things everyone struggles with when they come to me: who am I, what am I doing here, what’s my plan and purpose? They’re sick and tired of their mind, family of origin conditioning, and fears. They don’t know what they want in their life, how to design it, or how to get it. These three big things are really crucial.
If you want to live from your soul and feel soul-aligned, with a life full of magic, miracles, joy, and fun, this class is for you. It doesn’t mean you won’t have challenges, but you want to live the life you came here to live. This class covers all of that at a high level. It’s good for beginners on the path and also for those who are already on the path and want to go deeper. You can find it on my website at www.bernadettelogue.com/soulalignedlife.
If someone stumbled across our conversation today what message of encouragement would you give to them?
All feelings are messengers, and they have a very important message for you. The sensation of feeling empty, depressed, or confused is a message, and it feels painful, but the message is that you’re being called into something very powerful. I have no concerns when someone says they’re feeling that way. That is a symptom of feeling disconnected and an opportunity for connection.
There is always light because it’s who you are. There is always love because it’s who you are. As long as your heart is beating and you’re breathing, you are not done. There are magic, miracles, contribution, purpose, and goodness ahead. It’s all about waking up inside the dream. We’re in a thing called life; it’s like a weird dream. We’re souls, and we’ve got to wake up inside the dream. I’m great at waking people up inside the dream, so come on over.
You're not in your body by mistake. You're here having the experience of being you, because you chose it at a soul level.
