The State of Being Called Joy: Part 3

Joy has always been part of my nature. My partner often says, “I don’t know anyone who laughs as much as you do.” From a young age, I sensed that a genuine smile could shift an entire room. I made it my mission to make grumpy people laugh.

But I also learned early on that joy was welcome—while other emotions were not.

“Don’t be mad.”
“Don’t be sad.”

So I learned to suppress parts of myself. I wore joy like armor—real, but incomplete.

Eventually, that fragmentation caught up with me. After three wake-up calls—burnout, depression, and a panic attack—I turned inward to understand how my body, emotions, and thoughts truly function together. I had to reclaim all of myself to rediscover a grounded, sustainable joy—the kind that arises from inner harmony.

Today, my smile is stronger because it hides nothing.
It emerges from wholeness.

One of the deepest myths I’ve encountered is the belief that joy is a consequence. We are conditioned to believe that happiness arrives after we check the right boxes: partner, career, home, success.

In my early thirties, I had it all. A loving marriage. A flourishing career. A beautiful apartment. Multiple languages. On paper, fulfillment was guaranteed—yet inside, there was a quiet void.

I noticed how my joy disappeared when my partner wasn’t present. I felt the fleeting high of professional recognition fade almost instantly. That dissonance led to what I now call two years of depression in disguise.

The real question revealed itself:
Why can’t joy stay, even when life looks perfect?

The answer was simple—and confronting.
Joy is not an outcome.
It is a state of being.

True joy does not vanish when life becomes turbulent. It becomes your inner rhythm.

This is my resolution: joy is something you become, not something you achieve. It arises when you take full responsibility for your inner state. When we outsource happiness—expecting others, success, or circumstances to provide it—we give our power away.

Freedom begins the moment you realize:
No one else is responsible for your joy.
And you are not responsible for anyone else’s.

What you can do is share your presence, your peace, and your truth.

That is the state of being called joy.

TAKE ACTION: Joy is not something to understand—it is something to inhabit. The video are offered for those who feel called to explore joy as a state of coherence, presence, and responsibility.
