Coach and Writer, Awakened Executive Contributor

Cathy Shuter is a writer and coach. She is enthusiastic about Wellbeing and much of her work focuses on supporting people to feel happier in their lives.
Cathy originally trained as a teacher, specialising in Special Needs. After becoming a Special Needs Coordinator and then Head of a small school attached to a children’s home, she trained as a coach. Cathy currently supports pupils and staff at a school for pupils with autism.

In 2015, Cathy published her first book, 100 Free Ways To Happier Days!
Since then, she has published over thirty books, all with a focus on supporting people with their well-being.

In 2021, Cathy’s Wellbeing Café was formed on Facebook. It was a place for people to connect and support one another during the Lockdowns occurring at that time. The café is still thriving and currently has over three hundred members.

In 2024, Cathy’s Wellbeing Club was registered as a Community Interest Company. Their mission is to establish a true sense of Community through the Seven Cs of Collaboration, Cooperation, Creativity, Coaching, Communication, Compassion, and Celebration!

The ultimate aim is to open a wellbeing centre by the sea in the UK featuring a vegetarian café, workshops, a place for musicians to perform, and a room for artists to create and display their work. It would have a space for coaching, a place for camping, and a small animal sanctuary. Cathy is determined that the building and activities are affordable and accessible to all.

Cathy’s Wellbeing Club runs activities on and offline, and members have contributed to collaborative writing projects to help raise funds and awareness of the club. They would love to lease a café in the near future to build on the things that they have achieved so far. It is free to join Cathy’s Wellbeing Club, and anyone supportive of their aims is welcome. Becoming Ourselves

I have been thinking about how important it is that we embrace our uniqueness and become our true selves.
From when we are very young, we learn to please people and often try to make ourselves into the person we think others would like us to be.
This dims our light as we tend to hesitate, procrastinate and try to fit in.

New Beginnings

We learn so much from the seasons in Nature.
I am thinking about Spring. The month of April is considered to be a time of renewal and rebirth. April comes from the Latin word Aperire, which means ‘to open.’
It represents awakening in Nature as the days get longer and the flowers start blooming.

All We Need Is Love

I love watching programmes on TV where people meet in the hope that they will find their perfect match. In the UK, we have ‘First Dates’ where people meet in a nice restaurant, and we get to see how their date works out.
Many adverts on TV focus on love, and there are a lot of songs in the charts about Love.

Today’s Focus Is Upon Compassion

Today’s focus is upon Compassion.
What does Compassion mean to you?
To me, Compassion has to do with how people think and feel. It is connected to feelings of Empathy that we have.

For Cathy Shuter, author of nearly thirty books and founder of Cathy’s Wellbeing Club, the journey into writing and coaching began not from perfection but from pain. Why Call A Coach?

Life Coaching helps people to reach goals by providing support and accountability. Coaches don’t fix problems. They support their clients in identifying their own solutions.
Here is a great way to start identifying your challenges and possible solutions:
Name the challenge. Write down the problem you are hoping to solve. (e.g. You decide you wish to communicate more effectively with your teen.)
List possible solutions. Write down any ideas that come into your head. You can ask people you respect for their ideas, too. Write them all down.
Choose one of the solutions. Try it out.

True Communication

We are living in times of great change and uncertainty. During seasons like this, it becomes more important than ever to truly understand one another.
