When I was first asked to write an article on the subject of courage, I jumped at the opportunity. The truth is, my entire journey, since I was that little girl standing at the end of my driveway singing to the cars passing by, has been a story of courage. Back then, I didn’t know it was therapy. I didn’t know it was healing. I just knew that it helped me feel something different. And as some of you may remember from prior articles, that little girl is still a part of me.

From that day to now, I’ve come to believe that courage is born from everything we go through. Sometimes we repeat the same lessons over and over until we truly grasp them.
Today, I’m here to tell you that courage, for me, looks like being strong enough to walk away. To let go of people I love deeply, not out of anger, but because I finally realized they were holding me back. And I didn’t even know it.
If I hadn’t experienced the upheaval of 2020, and I say this with full gratitude, I wouldn’t have come to this truth. I no longer accept being tolerated. I deserve to be celebrated. And that shift, that knowing, takes courage.
Sometimes courage means cutting ties with your own flesh and blood. Sometimes it’s releasing the friend you’ve had for years, not because of drama, but because you’ve outgrown them. Because you’ve decided to lean into your triggers and learn from them, not run from them.
Triggers are teachers. And while many don’t understand them, I believe that if you’re reading Awakened Magazine, then you do. You’re calling in this information. You’ve either done the work or you’re ready to start. You’re vibrating at a frequency that welcomes truth. You’re waking up. You’re attracting a higher way of being.
If that’s you, I want you to know. Doing the work is worth it.
I read energy. I feel it. I know when I walk into a room if I belong there or not. Just last week, I had to make one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever made. I woke up and did my usual morning ritual. I stretched wide in bed. I gave thanks. I drank my gratitude water. I spoke my daily mantra. And I said, “Today is the day.”

I walked into my kitchen and made my magic nootropic drink. Then I headed outside to my Moroccan room, where I film my show ApotheKerry. The sun was warm and golden that morning. I let myself soak in the light, the heat, the vitamin D. And in that moment, I knew it was time.
I took a deep breath and said out loud, “You’re fired.”
I fired the version of me that was getting in my own way. The one that was stuck. The one playing small. I said, “You are no longer in charge. Your highest potential is now leading the way.”
That was the most courageous thing I’ve ever done.
My new ApotheKerry set had been sitting, complete and beautiful, for three weeks. But I couldn’t bring myself to film. I was blocked. Was it scarcity? Fear? Old stories resurfacing? Probably all of it. I knew the right thing to do, but I couldn’t do it.
Until I could.
And now, here I am. Doing the things I’ve been putting off and showing up and choosing myself and choosing the truth.
Courage doesn’t always roar. Sometimes, it whispers. Sometimes, it walks away. Sometimes, it fires the part of you that’s been quietly holding you back.
Mine looks like this.
And yours? Yours might be just around the corner.
So I invite you to pause, breathe, and ask yourself. What part of you is ready to rise? What truth have you been whispering to yourself in the quiet moments? Let that voice grow louder. Let that next courageous step reveal itself. And when it does, take it. You are more ready than you think.
