Discovering Sacred Geometry as a Path to Source – An Interview with Samuel Kiwasz

Sam, you and I have had a chance to spend a little time together here and there at different expos we’ve both attended, and I’ve loved your presence. Today, I’m very excited to get to know you even more. I’d love to hear about your own story of awakening to consciousness, mindfulness, and spirituality. Going back to your childhood, was faith or spirituality part of your home life and upbringing, or did that come to you later in life?

Samuel Kiwasz: My parents were Holocaust survivors, and the Jews who survived either became very religious or not religious at all. My parents were very much cultural Jews. They spoke Yiddish in the home, but I was raised as an atheist.

Was this here in the Los Angeles area?

Samuel Kiwasz: I was born in East Los Angeles in 1951.

Since they were cultural Jews, I assume you celebrated the holidays. Was that a chance for the family to get together?

Samuel Kiwasz: It was a chance for the family to get together for dinner. I had an older sister and a younger brother.

So, you didn’t go to synagogue or talk much about God or spirituality? Was it simply not discussed?

Samuel Kiwasz: Actually, my mother was very much into Krishnamurti. My mother had me go away for a week with an older friend. He had a twinkle in his eye, and we went to Lake Elsinore. He lived all the teachings of Krishnamurti. But basically, I was an atheist, and it wasn’t until I transferred from LA Valley College to UCLA in my junior year in 1971 that I discovered metaphysics.

They had an experimental college at UCLA that offered yoga, tai chi, meditation, and hypnosis. Anybody could teach a class, and anybody could attend—they didn’t have to be a university student. That was when I woke up.

I realized that our country—our world—was mixed up, upside down, backward, and crazy. I said, “God, please take me through this as quickly as possible, even if I have to go on the roller coaster.” Two years later, I graduated from UCLA completely disoriented. I had never had to be in the real world, and I was also dealing with some of the angst of my parents’ experience during the Holocaust.

How did that manifest for you in everyday life?

Samuel Kiwasz: I went into a deep depression. I went to Berkeley and joined a friend and her yoga friends on a trip to Mount Shasta. In the southeast corner of Mount Shasta, we each had our own space to do our sadhana during the day, and at night, we would come together and share. I had never experienced anything like that.

I was reading Autobiography of a Yogi and looking for a community I could be part of. My challenge was that I didn’t like a lot of structure or following a regimen. I visited a yoga community in Grass Valley. It was a wonderful community, but I just didn’t like the structure.

I was looking for a place to settle myself. I didn’t fit in; I felt like a man without a country. I didn’t know where I belonged, and I ended up going into a deep depression. When I came out of that, I was psychotic and hospitalized for two months.

Once a year, I would go into a manic state and be hospitalized wherever I was. Afterward, I would experience six months of depression and have to rebuild my finances, friendships, work situation—everything. So I got my wish. God put me on the roller coaster for ten years, until I finally got tired of it and decided to do whatever it took to get out.

When you say you were on a roller coaster, do you mean challenges with your mental health, spiritual experiences, finances, or all of those things?

Samuel Kiwasz: I was able to maintain my finances through all of that, but my mental health was the issue. I was bipolar.

I finally got out of it in my mid-thirties. I took myself in hand, found a spiritual nutritionist, went on a program, and did whatever it took to get out. Once I did, I tried to help my friends get out of it, but it pulled me back in.

I wanted to create an environment where people could be uplifted and where we could uplift one another. In 1989, 1990, and 1991, I created Transformational Friends of Santa Monica. I took the deep pain and loneliness I had experienced during those ten years. I transmuted it into the motivation to create an environment where people could love and be loved. Anyone who entered my apartment in Santa Monica would be uplifted on all levels.

We had a half-hour silent meditation, and afterward, we sat in a circle and introduced ourselves. Then we had a speaker, a good film, or something else that was life-positive. I also had an entire table of really healthy foods. Anybody who came into my space received friendship, camaraderie, and community every Wednesday night for a year and a half.

Then I rented the Quaker House in Santa Monica and continued holding the gatherings twice a month for the better part of another year. We had up to 40 people in my home and up to 70 people at the Quaker House. I was written up in the Los Angeles Times, and then I burned out. But during that process, I met Pauline, who became my wife, and she helped me.

I was also involved with sacred geometry and gave lectures using transparencies. Around the turn of the century, I developed a PowerPoint presentation and moved from hosting things in my home to having them online. Now I have Sacred Friends Community at SacredFriends.org.

How did you become interested in sacred geometry? Did someone introduce it during one of those gatherings, and it simply caught on for you?

Samuel Kiwasz: First of all, I liked math in the sixth grade, and I eventually became a sixth-grade math and science teacher. When I was in sixth grade, I used to finish my math work early, and the teacher would let me go around and help the other kids. I had a propensity for basic math.

Then, in tenth-grade geometry, I barely passed. I was somewhere between a C and a D, but I scored 93 percent on the final—the highest grade in the class—and the teacher accused me of cheating. Only one other student did well. The reason I did so well was that the final consisted entirely of geometric constructions, with no word problems. I think I may have been a geometer in a past life because I had a natural propensity for working with circles, squares, and triangles.

In the early 2000s, I was given VHS recordings of Drunvalo Melchizedek’s six-day Flower of Life workshop. He had told all his students to make copies and give them out, which was a fantastic marketing idea. I immersed myself in sacred geometry. For days on end, I would watch the recordings, and the material simply went inside me. It became part of my being.

When I came out of those ten years of darkness—what I call the dark night of the soul—I was looking for something to do. I asked myself, “What could I do that was life-positive and made a contribution?” I thought, “Okay, I’ll be a teacher.”

I worked as a substitute teacher for LA Unified for six years before finally applying for a permanent position. The openings were in sixth-grade math and science. Even though I had been a social studies major at UCLA, I took what I could get.

Sixth-grade math seems like a tough subject and age group.

Samuel Kiwasz: It was a tough age group, yes, although the subject wasn’t tough for me. I noticed that many children were turned off by math, and I wondered what I could do to make it more interesting and inspiring so they could have a positive experience with it.

I created an original curriculum based on my sacred geometry material, titled Geometric Drawing: The Math-Art Connection. I taught it to my sixth-grade students and as a middle school elective for three years. Then the school realized I didn’t have an art credential, so they told me I couldn’t teach it anymore.

In the meantime, I had developed a workshop for math teachers. It was up to 15 or 16 hours long, often taught over four Saturday mornings, with as many as 100 teachers at a time at the California Math Conference. After ten years, I decided to test the system by changing the name of the workshop to Sacred Geometry: The Math-Art Connection. Of course, I was uninvited from the math conference.

I did that intentionally because it forced me to go public. It had been comfortable getting paid to teach this material, while working in the public arena can be challenging, as you know.

After ten years, I was also looking for a sacred-geometry symbol to wear over my heart. I chose the Sri Yantra, which is the Om frequency. In the ancient Vedic tradition, it is considered the most powerful symbol of all.

Sam, many people may assume everyone already knows this, but what is sacred geometry? Perhaps you could show us the symbol as well.

Samuel Kiwasz: I’m glad you asked. I bought this pendant from Australia after searching online because it was so beautiful. When I started wearing it around Los Angeles, strangers would stop me on the street and ask, “Where can I get one?”

I began buying them wholesale, and a friend helped me set up a website. Initially, I offered only two designs: the Flower of Life and the Sri Yantra. Then the people making them in India contacted me and offered to sell them to me at a significantly reduced price.

At first, the quality wasn’t up to par, so I told them, “You have to make these better.” They said they could, but they would have to charge me a little more. We went back and forth and eventually settled on a price. I’ve now been working with this family in Jaipur, India, for 17 years, and we’ve become very close. I visited them ten years ago, and a year and a half ago, my wife and I returned for their daughter’s wedding. It was beautiful.

How would you define sacred geometry?

Samuel Kiwasz: Much of sacred geometry comes from ancient Egypt, but the Flower of Life symbol has been found in ancient structures all over the world. It symbolizes the oneness of creation and the interconnectedness of all life. In Akhenaten’s mystery school in Egypt, they had a way of explaining creation through sacred geometry. That is an entire teaching in itself.

Basically, the void projected itself along three axes, connected the ends, formed an octahedron, and began to spin it. On the first day of creation, the first sphere created another sphere. In six days, there were six spheres surrounding the original sphere, forming the Seed of Life.

It also corresponds to Genesis in the Bible. Essentially, one thing is created from another. It is similar to dimensional shifts, but these are structural shifts. You begin with the Seed of Life—the seven interconnected circles—which opens into the Flower of Life and then into Metatron’s Cube. It continues from there, and before you know it, you have a universe.

What was it about sacred geometry and these symbols that drew you in on a personal level?

Samuel Kiwasz: I was good at math and geometric constructions. Sacred geometry gave me a way to connect all the dots and find a definite path to Source. It all came together for me. I read many books, and I’ve now been teaching it for about 25 years, including within the LA Unified School System. I was a metaphysical mole.

I simply kept going with it. From those two original designs, Ritik—the family’s son—and I began working together. We have now created more than 80 designs, including the Mandala Sacred Geometry Deck.

The deck contains 52 cards, each featuring a different sacred geometry symbol. Every card has three positive words at the top and an affirmation, such as “I move forward with clarity and ease.” You can sit in a circle with your friends, and each person chooses a card. By the law of synchronicity, you will select the one containing the message you need.

They are similar to oracle cards. They provide a wonderful way to take in the mandalas and have deeper conversations with your friends. I couldn’t stop creating these designs because each one is so beautiful and universal. Whenever I prepare a wholesale order, I fall in love with them all over again.

You have more than 80 different pendants in various sizes. I’ve watched the video on your YouTube channel showing the process, which we can link to. How are the pendants physically made?

Samuel Kiwasz: There are 22 steps involved in creating each pendant, and the entire process takes a month. Hrithik’s father is an artist. We give him the pattern, and he transfers it into a computer program that prints the design—about 12 at a time—onto a sheet of glass.

They turn the glass over and apply one color at a time using very high-quality glitter. They must wait a day between each color. Once the entire pattern is complete, they prepare another piece of glass.

Jaipur has many crystal and gemstone materials. They grind those materials and use them to create the back of the pendant. We offer five different backs: black tourmaline, lapis lazuli, red coral, turquoise, and malachite. Black tourmaline is the most popular because it is associated with grounding and protection.

They grind the gemstone, add a little epoxy, and layer the mixture onto the back glass. Then they join the two pieces of glass, cut out the circle, and sand it down. Finally, they take it to a silversmith, who surrounds it with sterling silver and adds a clasp. It takes a great deal of time. If I had to do it myself, I wouldn’t be making them—I don’t have that kind of patience.

You have more than 80 designs, but how many different sizes do you offer?

Samuel Kiwasz: I used to have four sizes, but now I have three. The minis are one inch in diameter. I previously offered a small size that was one and a quarter inches. The medium-large pendants are between one and a half and one and five-eighths inches, and the extra-large pendants are three inches.

When people wear these pendants, what do they say about the experience? They aren’t simply ornamental pieces of jewelry—people feel a connection to them. Even selecting a pendant seems to be a sacred experience. Can you tell us more about that?

Samuel Kiwasz: It’s interesting that you ask because my wife, Pauline, has been working with gemstones and crystals for over 40 years. When we receive the pendants from India, we charge them beneath a golden pyramid using a crystal skull. The crystal skull we use is a miniature Einstein.

On November 11, 2011—11/11/11—there was a large conference at a hotel near LAX featuring world-famous crystal skulls. My wife had the genius idea to go around and download the information from each of those crystal skulls onto ours, one at a time. All that wisdom of the ages then goes into the pendants.

We also use energy grids and crystal clusters. It is my multilevel, multidimensional alchemical charging process. My wife previously worked with Dael Walker, who wrote The Crystal Book. In fact, I met Pauline at one of his crystal healing workshops.

I had offered to let Dael stay at my house for a week, and as a thank-you, he invited me to his weekend workshop. I came down from my sacred spot in Santa Ynez Canyon and went directly to the workshop. A woman was sitting in the front row with her feet resting on a chair, and I thought, “That’s interesting.” So I sat next to her and put my feet up on a chair too.

We ended up going to lunch and then had a date. A day and a half later, while Dael was staying at my house, she came over for a healing and never left. It was a gift that came from my generosity. It was divinely inspired.

Returning to the pendants, what is the experience like for the people who wear them? My understanding is that it begins with the process of selecting one.

Samuel Kiwasz: My wife says, “You don’t pick the pendant; the pendant picks you.” It is a very intuitive process. When she is at the booth—because she also loves attending workshops at expos—she can help people choose.

She has them select three pendants, and now we can also have them choose three mandala cards. She uses them as touchstones, similar to tarot cards. Her angels and their angels come together, and she offers a very deep healing. She won’t charge for it, and she takes as long as necessary. Sometimes it lasts half an hour, and sometimes it lasts three hours. She is in another dimension when she does that.

When we receive the crystals and energetically charge them, she programs them to bring healing, prosperity, and other positive qualities to the pendants. When healers walk past our booth, they become excited because they can feel the energy. It is truly there—it’s tangible. When the pendants are charging in my office, I can feel the shift in the room too.

They are made to heal and to help people with whatever they are going through. They also have an intrinsic beauty. I’ve noticed that when I take them to conventional jewelry stores and try to sell them wholesale, the stores aren’t interested because the pendants are on another frequency.

These are spiritual mandalas. They are yantras that remind us of who we are—that we are all having a spiritual experience in a human body. The more we surround ourselves with these symbols, the more we remember. We don’t have to remain forgetful. We can break through the veil and become our higher selves, allowing our souls to shine through when we surround ourselves with whatever it takes.

You’ve been offering these pendants for the past 17 years and have been attending various expos, including the Awakened Lifestyle Expo on August 22 and 23. What do you enjoy about bringing Sacred Pendants to these expos?

Samuel Kiwasz: I enjoy meeting people who are awakened or in the process of awakening—people who genuinely want to work on themselves. I also give an inspiring presentation. I’m enthusiastic, and that enthusiasm gets transferred to the audience.

I have trouble connecting with the type of people who go to conventional jewelry stores and spend thousands of dollars on a diamond. That’s okay if it’s what they want, but I would rather spend money on something with more intrinsic value.

When I attended the New Living Expo a few months ago, I noticed that the people in Northern California were very spiritual, but also grounded and down-to-earth. I really enjoyed that, and I want to bring more of it here. Being spiritual doesn’t mean you can’t be real, honest, direct, and have integrity.

I tell people that if you’re in business, you need to do what you say you’ll do and return phone calls. If you do those two things, you establish credibility. I hate to say it, but there are many people out there who simply aren’t grounded.

I always love seeing you both at the expos. In addition to the Sacred Pendants, you offer several other things at your table. Pauline has some magical sprays and offers readings, all of which will be available at the Awakened Lifestyle Expo. What else do you offer?

Samuel Kiwasz: Pauline’s sprays contain alchemical, multilevel, multidimensional frequencies. She received the formulas in meditation and was told that these formulas needed to be brought back onto the planet. She has lavender, rose, and lotus sprays. The lotus is the most popular. The Buddha slept on a bed of lotus flowers, and people simply connect with it.

She goes through an amazing process to create them. Once they’re made, she places them in Miron violet glass, which only allows ultraviolet, infrared, and violet light to enter. It blocks most other light, keeps the contents fresher for longer, and raises their vibrational frequency.

That’s another business I have. My garage is filled with about 30 different violet glass bottles and jars, which I’ve also been selling for 17 years. The impetus behind all of this came when I had reached the top of the salary scale in teaching and was earning about $80,000 a year.

I spent six years as a substitute teacher, seven years teaching sixth-grade math and science in the inner city, and my final nine years doing independent study—a form of modified, one-on-one homeschooling—which was wonderful. Eventually, I said, “I’m tired of sitting. People are making money on the internet. I’m no dummy; I can do it too.”

That was when I found the pendants and the Miron glass. I did very well with the glass because no one knew about it. I was essentially the only person in town selling it. Then the importing company grew, the glass became better known, and many people began purchasing it wholesale. Some people are willing to work for practically nothing, which makes it difficult to compete. I still carry the glass because it’s wonderful, although it doesn’t sell as much now.

I also offer wooden crop circles made in Sedona. They aren’t handmade; they’re created using a computerized laser machine. The designs are based on aerial photographs of crop circles in England, and people love them too.

I’d like to talk about your upcoming workshop at the Awakened Lifestyle Expo, “Sacred Geometry: Ancient Wisdom for Modern Living.” What can people expect from the workshop?

Samuel Kiwasz: I have various exercises, including one for reprogramming the subconscious. It’s a oneness exercise in which you breathe and say, “I am oneness.” This places that message into your subconscious. Once you understand the technique, you can use it with anything, so it’s a powerful way to reprogram the subconscious.

I’ll also bring a lot of my enthusiasm and share stories about what I’ve experienced through sacred geometry and how it can provide a path to Source. I may have my wife join me. She is highly motivational—and she’s smarter than I am.

She has been connecting with angels her entire life. She has nearly drowned three times, and each time, invisible hands pulled her out of the water. Because of those experiences, she has a deep faith and connection with the spiritual aspect of life.

You’ll have the Mandala Sacred Geometry Deck available at the Awakened Lifestyle Expo. What can people expect to invest in the deck and the pendants?

Samuel Kiwasz: I printed 300 decks. The back of the cards features the same design throughout the deck. They’re $44 and come with a leaflet that explains the symbols in detail.

The pendants are generally $90 on my website, but I try to offer a discount at the shows, so they’re $70. I believe the minis are $50. The extra-large pendants are $100 on my website and $80 at the shows.

This design came about through a friend of mine, Kimberly Meredith. She is a healer and wrote a book about the fifth dimension. I saw the cover of her book and created a pendant to match it. She now offers the pendant on her website.

The card reads: “Fifth Dimension. Geometry of Light. Multidimensionality. Integration. See beyond 3D. You’re awakening to your full potential.” I say that all the time. The affirmation is, “I am God’s ambassador of love and light.”

My wife channeled guidance for many of these affirmations. They came through from Spirit.
