What sparked the creation of your podcast – Live Like Eden: Spiritual Awakening Unraveled?

When I was young, I always had an open mind and was drawn to spirituality. I constantly questioned religion, but the answers never satisfied me. I had zero knowledge of spiritual awakening—what it meant or what the process entailed. Then, one day without warning, a spontaneous surge of energy blew through me, turning my world upside down, leaving me in turmoil and darkness for years, terrified and unable to find anyone who could relate.

Years later, I felt called to share my experience and talk about the realities of awakening—the real, raw, challenging moments minus the fluff and bliss that dominate spiritual circles. It’s a perspective missing in our culture. The ancient shamans understood the Call to Spirit, yet today, you’re tossed into a mental facility, drugged, and told you’re nuts! Spiritual awakening is a natural process we don’t know much about, and I want to change that.

In my experience, there are so many layers to uncover. So, I set out to support those feeling lost, struggling, or afraid of this profound shift by sharing insights, tools, and the comfort that everything will be okay—there’s light at the end of a very dark tunnel.

Educating others about awakening not only helps those in chaos, but it also prepares everyone who will inevitably face it. So, with a laptop, a microphone, and a few podcast tutorials, I started talking—and Live Like Eden was born!

Can you elaborate on what you went through? 20 years is a long time. What were your symptoms and experiences like?

At first, everything was intensely physical. Once that initial energy exploded up my spine and into my head, my entire world shifted. I felt streaming vibrations throughout my body constantly, paired with a general sense of nausea, as if my whole being was unwell. Jolts of energy surged through me while I slept, waking me up and scaring me to death.

After years of doctors’ visits, strange sensations, searing heat waves, heightened sensory awareness, extreme sensitivity to crowded environments, bizarre dreams, and difficulty navigating an overstimulated world, I was suddenly catapulted into a vast field of awareness and began seeing as the observer. It happened on its own—I had no choice; my identity was unfolding whether I liked it or not.

I became a witness to everything, observing myself and the automatic pilot of my personality. It became clear that the identity is acting, and the world is a stage. If I could watch myself, my thoughts, and everyone around me from this vast space without judgment or commentary, who was I? Who is the watcher?

I didn’t realize then how vital this observer field was in preparing me for what lay ahead. In 2011, I experienced another radical shift in consciousness, far beyond that initial spinal surge. A powerful energy expanded in the center of my head, like a balloon on the verge of popping, with intense pressure that I intuitively knew would burst.

And that’s exactly what happened. The power peaked, breaking the boundary—one moment I was in my normal tunnel vision, the next I entered universal vision. Instantly, I received more information through my third eye and visual field than ever before, like swimming in water, feeling the fluidity of all things. I no longer felt like a separate individual in a body, although my body looked the same—it was a brand-new experience of life that never left me.

This overwhelmed my nervous system, and it took years to adjust. Imagine your system as an internal computer, used to a certain amount of daily data—when mine expanded, I was pulling in communication from the seen and unseen worlds, and my internal computer went haywire. I didn’t have enough storage to process it all. It was tough to manage—fight-or-flight responses sent my nervous system into chaos, leading to years of darkness. I isolated at home with my four young kids, barely able to leave while raising them, until the energy settled and I felt ready to learn how to live with it.

I endured years of unspeakable fear, terrified for no apparent reason outwardly, yet an existential threat consumed my identity inside. My ego was plummeting into a death I resisted for far too long.

After years of struggling, resisting the process, wishing it away, and hoping my old life would return, I realized it wasn’t going anywhere. The energy began to settle, and I grew tired of my seclusion—I needed to flip the script.

Instead of hiding, I recognized the energy as communication, a lesson I needed to learn. I let go of the ego’s sad story and trusted my spirit to guide me back into life.

It took many more years to adjust to this entirely new way of living—feeling the flow physically around me is quite a ride. A trip to the grocery store isn’t just grabbing items and leaving; for me, it’s an adventure in mystical multitasking through a sea of energetic frequencies moving through my field.

What felt impossible at first has become easier with a few tweaks, though I still struggle when too much energy floods my system—but now I understand it, I’ve developed tools to calm myself, and I’m confident everything is okay. I stay connected to spirit, embrace the challenges, and let them teach me.

There were so many other stages and experiences along the way, but this gives a simple glimpse into why I can speak on awakening and transformation. I never knew I was attached to my identity until it began slipping away—that’s what the undoing process is: waking us to something greater, that symbol within us that eventually leads us home.

How does your 20-year awakening journey shape your podcast and blog content?

During my awakening, I was so lost I couldn’t see the beautiful design I was living. When you’re in hell, you’re drowning—you can’t see past your own misery. Years later, after my nervous system adjusted, the fear subsided, and I became a curious student, I noticed several stages along the way, each preparing me for the next. I often draw from those stages, along with the roadblocks of everyday life, to share tools, insights, and coping strategies on the podcast each week.

We’re all on the same path: some of us are still sleeping, others are waking up, and others are fully aware. I work to bridge the gap for everyone—no matter where you are, we’ll all recognize our spiritual essence and return home. No two paths are the same, but they lead to the same destination.

Can you share a pivotal moment from your awakening that changed your perspective?

Such a great question! Honestly, there were many pivotal moments along the way; however, one experience truly shifted my perspective. When the spontaneous energy surge hit me, I spent years with unexplained physical and mental symptoms—my mind fixated on one phrase: “I had a problem that needed a solution!”

I spent so much time searching for answers—my mind desperately craved an explanation. This is the ego mind at work—the great knower—always needing answers for everything.

On a trip to Northern California, staying in a Zen Cottage near the ocean, I had two weeks of silence and surrender. Sitting alone in a chair, gazing at the beautiful garden around me, an overwhelming power engulfed my entire being—so strong, so obvious, and beyond words. I no longer felt my body; it was as if my faculties were suspended, frozen in time.

In that moment, everything vanished—nothing was known, and all I could feel was this incredible essence. My mind ceased, the questions erased, and in that moment, I KNEW NOTHING!

This emptying of my mind marked a shift: from seeing a problem needing a solution to becoming an investigative reporter, taking notes through the process. I slowly embraced the unknown, released the ego’s dominance, and began letting spirit guide me.

Why did you name your podcast and blog Live Like Eden?

Everyone’s heard of the Garden of Eden, and I’ve always been drawn to it. However, I don’t take the Bible’s story of Eden literally—I see it as a symbol. The story feels simplistic and must hold deeper meaning. In my experience, Eden symbolizes our true home in God, a reminder of who we really are beyond this world.

While we’re here, living in a body and distracted by daily responsibilities, it’s easy to lose sight of our true essence. Live Like Eden is a practical, everyday reminder that you can live in the world while staying connected to the memory of home—anytime you wish.

You don’t have to meditate constantly, chant repeated phrases, detach from society, or sit on a mountaintop seeking bliss to feel spiritually connected. It’s simple—you can always access it; it’s just a matter of choice.

How does your approach to spiritual awakening differ from mainstream spirituality?

I see many rituals in religion and the New Age community that aren’t necessary—they’re there if they work for you, but I focus on living your connection to your spiritual self every day. How can you truly be your spiritual self?

What’s the point of seeking bliss through meditation, weekend retreats, or church services if you don’t know how to live it? Why set aside one hour a week to reflect when you’re completely disconnected the rest of the time, running in circles with the ego mind, feeling like a mess? Staying aware takes work—until it becomes as natural as riding a bike.

We can absolutely be guided by our inner wisdom; it’s just a matter of willingness, curiosity, and stepping out of the thinking mind. Becoming an observer—a witness to the world around you—speaks volumes. You can learn to tap into your inner wisdom and find peace, even amid incredible chaos.

I also differ from much spiritual chatter—waking up is about surrendering to everything we believe to be true. It’s not growth; it’s removing layers of falsehoods—an undoing process that reveals what’s already pure and whole, leading us to the Godhead. We’re not broken, though our minds convince us otherwise.

Understanding this can shift your entire perspective on life. There’s no need to improve—it’s about removing the mind’s blocks of resistance so we can see the truth, leading to a lighter, calmer, and more content way of being.

What common challenges do clients bring to your 1:1 sessions, and how do you support them?

First and foremost, I reassure my clients they’re not alone. Even though they’ve often been denied support, their experience is a north star in life’s journey.

The most common challenges include fear of what’s happening—they often feel they’re going crazy or stuck, with nowhere to turn. Many experience strange energetic sensations, psychic openings, a deep connection to spiritual and mystical realms, feeling misunderstood, and frustration from being labeled with mental disorders when they know something profound is unfolding.

People who come to me have been through the medical establishment and psychiatry—the works. They’re exhausted, needing someone to truly hear them, something the medical and mental health world often doesn’t have time for, nor are they educated on the topic. Indigenous cultures treated these challenges as a natural part of life, nurturing, supporting, and allowing the process to unfold without labels.

I work to calm my clients, helping them reframe their experiences as guides, whether it’s the body or mind communicating a need. Our minds are conditioned to see everything as a problem, but what if it’s simply communication? When you’re open to this perspective, everything changes—you begin to listen, become a student of your unique awakening, and stay open to where it leads, empowering you instead of leaving you feeling like an outcast.

What’s one piece of advice for someone noticing early signs of spiritual awakening?

Most people have no idea they’re in the midst of awakening—it’s the last thing we’re taught. Our minds jump to seeing a doctor or seeking mental health therapists. I always recommend getting yourself checked out first to see if you are suffering from a physical or mental condition. My advice for those who sense something profound, even amidst others’ doubts, is to listen to your intuition—let your inner wisdom guide you and seek help when needed.

When you’re scared, take a breath and step out of the thinking mind. You’re always where you need to be, even if you don’t think so—each experience can be seen as needing to know everything or as an opportunity to become a student eager to be guided.

You can live in fear or be curious about the stage you’re in and what it’s showing you. A shift in mindset changes everything—you may not control what’s happening physically, but you can change how you view it. That’s the beauty of awakening: you have a choice!

Lastly, how has your understanding of spirituality evolved since your awakening began in 2003?

I love this question. When you’re young and discovering spirituality, there’s often an arrogance in that community, as if we’re the spiritual ones, but those people over there aren’t. This is just the ego’s view of spirituality.

The reality is everyone is a spiritual being—we’re all destined to return to Truth in God. How that plays out in the material world varies, and our naïve minds project that some are wrong while we’re right. These are traps designed to keep us stuck in a dual world, separated from Truth in God, baiting us to complicate everything, take sides, divide us with good and evil, and keep us learning more when we need to unlearn everything—pitfalls that trap us in the endless cycle of birth and death.

Awakening is about seeing through this illusory world—there are levels to this, and we each see through them at different times. I’ve learned to have compassion and empathy for everyone—we’re all where we need to be, and that’s okay. Why would I deny someone their right to unlearn? Who am I to judge? Maybe the pitfalls are the best teachers.
