Can you connect the dots on how you went from such an extreme low in your life to where you are today?

I have always loved astrology. I remember a vivid dream when I was small. I walked out at night and saw the planets labeled with popsicle stick labels; the most notable was Jupiter. I’d always get the little colored scrolls at the drug stores that had your astrology and lucky numbers for the month. I would ponder where the universe ends and whether time exists elsewhere, and I tried to channel Jim Morrison when I was around 14.

At 16, my prom date became the knight in shining armor who would later nearly kill me. We had three children together over a tumultuous, horrifying 22-year stretch during which I became completely cut off from society. It was too painful for my family to come around anymore, and I was fully isolated from any help or support.

The breaking point was when our daughter, 16 at the time, pulled me aside one hectic morning getting ready for work and school. She said, “I can’t take living like this anymore. It’s him or me.” I started to shake, and my eyes welled up. There was no way I would let her run away. I made a pact with her then and there, to wait for me to give her a signal so that the next time I was being beaten, with visible, undeniable evidence, that she would call 911.

Within 2 weeks of that conversation, it happened. He was arrested, and I promised the kids I would never take him back again.  The three kids and I slept hard for two solid weeks.

A stark realization came to my awareness: “My kids have no idea who I am.”

That was distressing enough, but then I gasped and said, “Neither do I. I don’t know who I am.” And that mortified me!

A few months later, my boss said, “You’re not all there anymore. I’m going to have to let you go.”

I was 39 years old, a functioning alcoholic, suddenly a single mother of three, and jobless.

How did you even begin to heal from all that?

It was long, drawn out, heavy, and horrible.

We moved to a new house and started over. Nothing could be as dark as the former 22 years; in light of that, it was challenging in many ways. But I kept moving through waves of recovery from all those years of torture, codependency, and deep shame. I was able to reconnect with my family and begin to figure out who the heck I was.

Is that when you turned to the spiritual arts?

I learned the nuts and bolts of astrology and just kept on going. I continue learning to this day. I studied the charts of criminals, and tripped upon the terms ‘empath’ and ‘narcissist’ and it all started to fall together.

You mentioned that you went public with your story of domestic violence. Can you share what that looked like?

I started to lecture during domestic violence awareness month, sharing my survivor story at colleges, businesses, treatment centers, and the County Coalition Against Family Violence for eight straight years. I was on several major network TV shows sharing my story. I created a nonprofit for domestic violence awareness, and for 9 years, I organized 3-day concerts called Exposure Concert: Because Love Shouldn’t Hurt.

Hundreds of people continued to reach out with their stories of how domestic and family violence impacted them, and it motivated me to go even harder, to use my (former) torture as a torch to light the way for others still in the dark of gaslighting and controlling relationships.

I became very active in the media and went on to host several radio shows, a ‘Global Forum on Domestic Violence’ podcast, and then my own television show, “You Can! with Suzanne,” which was all about self-empowerment, promoting small businesses and local bands. It was during this time that I started to move from the local music scene into the spiritual community, also interviewing people from my new circles there.

You have some pretty powerful client reviews out there. How did you enter the arena of energy healing?

As a Scorpio rising, I don’t trust anything if I don’t see it first-hand, or can replicate it myself.

I was looking for hard evidence that Reiki was not a pseudoscience like Google told me at the time; and then, I found Jerry Sargeant, founder of Star Magic Healing. His business was newer then. He agreed to come on my radio show out of Buffalo State College, and then came from the UK to New York for a weekend workshop and again for a facilitator training.

I took his 5-day Facilitator Training in Sedona, and the following year, did a super intense 5 day advanced training in England. I absolutely loved the feeling of acceptance, something I’d craved my whole life. Jerry was awesome to work with.

Since then, I’ve gone deep into theory of quantum mechanics, sacred geometry, guided meditation, channeling, reading past lives, working with crystal technology, vibration and frequency, epigenetics (I adore Dr. Bruce Lipton), sound healing with tuning forks and bowls, and my favorite- gongs, also weaving in Jungian psychological profiling and Carolyn Myss’ archetypes; the late Dr. Emoto and currently, Veda Austin’s work with water, and the relationship our consciousness has over our body’s outcome – or health outcomes.

I love to teach and demonstrate using Aurafit, how our thoughts become our health outcomes. It is important to have healthy thoughts, to stay in a state of growth and wonder for best outcomes.

I continue to study with the best spiritual teachers and practitioners out there. I put it all into a blender and come out with a “Suzy Smoothie,” and I teach everything I know.  I teach year-round at Lily Dale in New York, and at various venues from Buffalo to Cleveland regularly, while visiting other towns for retreats, classes and special events. I am so in love with my life today!

Do you have a favorite part of what you do?

Seeing people come in really heavy and suffering, but after our session, they are floating, having more range of motion, and feeling lighter, happier, and more in alignment with who they are at a soul level. Finding mystery illnesses, being a medical intuitive, and seeing people’s reactions is always entertaining and satisfying.  I get names of herbs or conditions I have no clue about, but it’s always right. It is extremely rewarding.

I also recently became certified in past life regression, and that is extremely cool.

It’s hard to pick one thing. I love to teach and see people light up when they realize the power they have within them. I love my weekend retreats because there, I get to see new friendships formed and massive transformations happen.

I super-love the sacred gong sound journeys and light language activations. Those are wild, people have out-of-body experiences and profound healing, too. I am amazed and so grateful every single day.

Any final words you’d like to share?

You are created from a loving universe, be that. Love. Nothing is more important than to know you are love itself, and you are loved.

When you are in a relationship where you are not allowed to do what brings you joy, run the other way. If your partner is going through your phone more than you are, run. A healthy relationship is reciprocal and understanding, supporting one another’s interests, rather than belittling the person for them.

Thank you so much for reading my story. I invite you to connect with me. I reply to all kinds of emails personally. I would love to hear from you and bring a retreat to your town!

A healthy relationship is reciprocal and understanding. Where one has a particular interest the other might not share, it shows respect to still support them rather than belittling them.

If you are seeking direction, support, or healing on any level, please reach out. My specialties include PTSD, depression, anxiety, and mystery illness, and using astrology for psychological profiling, compatibility, human resources, health, business, and timing predictions.

Over half of my client base are therapists, teachers, those in law enforcement and government, IT, physicians, coaches, athletes and entrepreneurs. Another service I offer is space clearing of negative entities for people and properties.

Thank you so much for reading my story. I would love to hear from you, and bring a retreat to your town!
