Owner of Fire Horse Spirit and Healing, Awakened Executive Contributor

Gina Deleo Martell is an ICF-accredited Intuitive Life Coach and Equine-Assisted Life Coach (EACA) with over 15 years of experience and the founder of Fire Horse Spirit and Healing on her farm in North Georgia. Her work is not something she chose lightly-it was shaped through a lifetime of lived experience, healing, and a deep desire to understand both herself and others. Gina grew up in a home marked by addiction, abuse, and instability. Like many children raised in that environment, she experienced fear, anxiety, and the lasting imprint of trauma. At a young age, she learned to take care of herself, developing independence and an inner resolve not to continue those cycles. During those years, her horses became her refuge, offering safety, connection, and a quiet strength when the world around her felt uncertain. For 36 years, Gina was an on-air personality in Miami, Florida, connecting with listeners on Love 94 FM. People often called in to share their struggles, and she found herself naturally stepping into the role of listener and guide- helping others feel heard, understood, and a little less alone. She later expanded into voice-over work for television, film, and documentaries, but in 2006, feeling disconnected from the direction of corporate broadcasting, she decided to step away from radio and continue her voice-over work.

In 2010, after attending Unleash the Power Within with Tony Robbins, Gina experienced a turning point- an awakening that gave her both clarity and direction. She went on to volunteer as part of the Fire Team, immersing herself in the work while continuing her own healing,

From there, she pursued formal training, earning her ICF life coaching certification and later becoming certified as EACA Equine-assisted life coaching. When Gina eventually moved to Georgia, something deeper began to bloom. Living closer to nature and choosing a more conscious way of life, she found that the right people began to appear-connections became more genuine, more aligned. Leaving behind the world of glam and glitter proved to be exactly the right direction. It was there that she truly began to live in awareness, presence, and spiritual connection.

Through the years of inner work, Gina has come to a place of deep forgiveness for the people in her life who challenged her most. She understands now that many of those who caused pain were themselves unhealed. In her work with clients, she gently shares this perspective-that people often become who they are through circumstances beyond their control-and through that understanding, true healing and forgiveness can begin.

Gina’s connection to horses runs deep. She has loved them since the minute she was born, according to her mother, and believes her natural ability to understand them is part of a lineage passed down from her grandfather, a horseman she never met. Today, she works closely with rescue horses, many of her own having come from the Miami SPCA, and volunteers with Save the Horses in North Georgia. She often refers to her horses as “my brothers with four legs,” honoring the role they play not only in her life, but in the healing of others.

She is also the author of Horse Stories: The Healing Way Horses Teach Us Healthy Relationships, and is currently working on a creative project for children, continuing her passion for guiding younger generations toward imagination, healing, and connection.

A mother of three grown children, Gina raised her family largely as a single parent, one of the most challenging and defining experiences of her life. She holds a deep respect for single mothers and fathers, understanding the strength it takes to carry both roles. She raised her children with an emphasis on independence, compassion, and kindness, teaching them to embrace others and to see that blended families, at their core, simply mean more love and an opportunity to grow!

Today, Gina works with women, men, and children navigating trauma, life transitions, and emotional challenges. Much of her work takes place in partnership with her horses, where healing unfolds in a grounded, honest, and often wordless way. Gina is deeply grateful for her life, her lessons, and the circle of spiritual friendships and spiritual living that surrounds her. Her work is not about changing people-it is about helping them understand themselves, getting to the root of the cause or unhealed emotion left inside that stays with their inner child, to release what no longer serves them, and return to a place of truth, strength, and peace. Grounding: Get Dirty and Find Your Peace

As children, we are often told not to get dirty.
“Stay out of the dirt.”
“Put your shoes on.”
“Don’t touch that plant—you might get a rash.”
“Be careful. There could be bugs.”
And yes, playing outside means we may come home with filthy feet, grass stains on our clothes, and dirt under our fingernails. And if you’ve ever had poison ivy, you know that’s certainly no picnic.
But maybe getting dirty isn’t something we should be quite so afraid of.
Maybe getting dirty is exactly what we need.

The Animals That Heal Us

July was one of the most difficult months of my life.
Many of you who have followed my work as an equine-assisted life coach may remember the cover of Awakened Magazine, where my beloved horse Dodger and I stood together. It remains one of my favorite photographs because it captured far more than a picture—it captured a relationship built on trust, unconditional love, and countless lives healed together.

Who Am I? Discovering Our True Identity Beyond Trauma

Who am I?
For much of my life, I believed I knew the answer. Boy, was I wrong!
I was a daughter, a wife, a mother, a career woman, a coach, a horsewoman, and a spiritual seeker. I wore those identities proudly. Yet looking back now, I realize that many of them were built upon experiences that shaped me long before I was old enough to understand them.
I’ve often wondered how many of us are living lives built around wounds we experienced before we were even capable of making sense of them. For many, we felt this was how life was, or at least our life was.

Expansion Begins Within

Expansion in our lives can mean many things. Careers expand. Families grow. Homes are renovated. Finances increase. These are all forms of expansion that we can see in the physical world.
But expansion within ourselves is something entirely different.
True expansion requires us to go deep—really deep. It asks us to look within and begin unlocking the chains of limiting beliefs that have kept us small, stuck, and disconnected from our authentic selves. These are the beliefs that tell us we are not enough, not worthy, not capable, or not deserving of the life we desire.
