What if your hardest moment was actually the universe finally getting your attention?

Growing up between Buddhist temples and mountain shamans in Korea, Sam Kim always felt there was something more to life than what he could see. Then, on a Friday afternoon, a routine service call as a plumber ended in electrocution, and Sam found himself somewhere else entirely.

In this conversation, he talks honestly about what he encountered on the other side, the light beings who showed him where his life had gone off course, and how he slowly faded back into this realm—waking up in a helicopter, a completely different person. It’s a story about pain and purpose, about fear and healing, and about what happens when the life you were living suddenly makes way for the one you were meant to live.

This conversation invites you to consider the moments in your own life that may have been quietly pointing you somewhere all along.

Did you grow up in a household with some sort of faith or spiritual experience?

Sam Kim: Yes, when I was younger—before I moved to America—I grew up in a Buddhist household. I was chanting most of the time with my mom. She would really drag me to chanting meetings and temples, and that’s how I developed a spiritual foundation.

But even as a kid, it wasn’t just Buddhism for me. I felt there was more to life than any one religion. I grew up in a small town where there were many elementals and what you might call shamanic influences.

And when you were a small child, you were aware of that?

Sam Kim: Yes. It was very unusual. One experience I’ll never forget—there was a man we called a mudong, like a shaman. He was doing a ceremony out in the mountains and woods.

Part of what they worked with was wind elements. Sometimes you’d feel these sudden, strange winds out of nowhere. Even from a distance, I witnessed things that felt… extraordinary. I could sense something happening that I couldn’t explain. That’s really what sparked my curiosity and interest in spirituality beyond religion.

So you moved to the United States. Did your family continue to practice Buddhism? And how did that shift as you got older?

Sam Kim: My mom still practices. My dad doesn’t really believe in anything, but he understands religion. My grandmother was also a Buddhist practitioner.

What’s interesting is that my mom followed more of a Japanese Buddhist practice, while my father’s mother practiced Korean Buddhism—Mahayana, with more meditation. I kind of blended those influences together and found my own way of practicing. It was a unique mix.

As you got older, did you continue having spiritual experiences, or were you more focused on your career?

Sam Kim: When I first moved to America, it was definitely a culture shock. I ended up chasing the American dream—focusing on work, goals, and just building a life. I kind of drifted away from spirituality for a while.

I lived a pretty normal life. I worked as a plumber for a long time and had different jobs here and there. Like a lot of people, I got caught up in work and the social scene.

But even then, because of what I experienced as a kid, I always knew there was something more. I would have little synchronicities, small “aha” moments along the way. And then one day, everything changed after my accident. That’s when the floodgates opened—and I haven’t been able to close them since.

Now I feel like it’s time for me to step forward and use what I’ve learned to help others.

So tell me about this accident. What happened?

Sam Kim: It was a Friday, my last service call of the day, when I was working as a plumber. I was at a commercial building, working on a water heater. Most units are gas, but this one was electric.

Before starting, I asked the building superintendent if the power was off. He told me he had shut the panel down, so I trusted him. I double-checked everything myself—the lights, the switch—and everything seemed fine.

I was inspecting the unit, trying to figure out the issue, and I reached down to grab a booklet on the ground. And then… I was gone.

The last thing I remember was a loud noise and this beautiful, bright light that I was pulled into. I found myself on the other side. I had experiences and interactions that are still hard to fully explain.

Since then, I’ve come to realize that the more I understand how life works—how the universe works—the more I need to listen and stay aware. Because I don’t want to end up in a situation like that again.

What happened to you physically during that experience?

Sam Kim: Honestly, I don’t remember exactly what happened physically in that moment. But while I was on the other side, I encountered what I would describe as light beings.

They showed me parts of my life—decisions I had made, where I had gone off track, and why this experience happened. At one point, I was shown the actual scene of the accident, almost like I was observing it from above.

It felt like I followed the ambulance, then up to the helicopter. And as it reached the helicopter, I began transitioning back—slowly fading from that realm into this one. Then I woke up inside the helicopter.

So you were transported by helicopter to the hospital?

Sam Kim: Yes. It was rush hour, so I probably wouldn’t have made it in time by ambulance. They needed something faster.

What happened once you got to the hospital?

Sam Kim: I was in shock. I didn’t fully understand what had happened. Honestly, I felt a little annoyed—like I didn’t want to come back.

At the hospital, they ran all the usual tests—MRIs, neurological scans—just to make sure everything was okay. But after that experience, nothing felt the same.

It made me question everything about life. But at the same time, I realized it wasn’t my time yet. So I’m still here—for a reason.

How has this experience affected you physically?

Sam Kim - Awakened MagazineSam Kim: Physically, I deal with constant pain. I’ve had two neck surgeries since then. The first was in 2020, during COVID, and the second was about two years ago.

The initial fusion didn’t heal properly, so they had to operate again. It’s been a process. But I’m still here, and I’m doing my best to make the most of it.

And on a spiritual or consciousness level, how has this impacted your life?

Sam Kim: It’s bittersweet—it really is a double-edged sword. Getting a glimpse of the other side and then coming back here… it changes everything.

I spent a lot of time reflecting on why it happened. I went through a period of isolation where I didn’t want to be around people. That’s when I really started diving deep into my shadow—looking at the parts of myself I had avoided.

I came to understand that everything had a reason. And honestly, this wasn’t my first near-death experience—I’ve had a couple before. But this one, the electrocution, happened at a time when I was really on the wrong path.

It felt like I was being told, “You’re acting up—we need to wake you up.” It was like a jolt to bring me back and help me become a better person.

When you say you were on the wrong path, was that through your life decisions? Were you being redirected?

Sam Kim: Yeah, it was a series of painful, wrong decisions. At that time, I was still searching for my purpose.

Before that, I was really into bodybuilding—I was in great shape. And honestly, I don’t think I would have survived the accident if I hadn’t been. But even then, I was searching for the wrong things at the wrong time.

I’ve always felt like the black sheep, trying to find my own way. But no matter what I did, there was always this emptiness inside. I had everything I thought I needed—a good job, money, travel, stability—but something was missing.

So I kept searching… just in the wrong places.

What year did the electrocution happen?

Sam Kim: It happened in May of 2017.

After that experience and your surgeries, how did your relationship with life shift? When did you feel called to help others?

Sam Kim: It really came down to self-realization. I started to see that life is more than just working a nine-to-five, paying taxes, and living inside the system.

Being in service changed everything for me. Instead of just doing a job I was trained to do, I began helping people in a more personal way—sharing what I had gone through, what helped me, and what didn’t.

That shift toward service is what started to give my life meaning.

What were the first steps you took toward helping others? Did you start with a specific modality?

Sam Kim: After the accident, I kept meeting people who were very similar to me—same kinds of experiences, same goals.

That led me to more people, and I started following my intuition—meeting like-minded individuals. Eventually, I realized I was a medium.

From there, I began studying different modalities—mediumship, readings, and channeling. I really got into it and found that I loved it, so I kept going deeper.

At first, I was really just trying to heal myself—mentally, emotionally, physically. But along the way, I received a lot of guidance from different people, and that helped shape everything.

Part of your story includes overcoming addiction. Did that come after your near-death experience?

Sam Kim: Yeah, it came after. Before, I wasn’t really into partying or anything like that. But after the accident, I went through a phase where I was trying to escape—not in a suicidal way, but just trying not to feel.

I started hanging around the wrong people and making more bad decisions. After a while, I got tired of it. It felt like I was just running in circles, chasing my own tail.

Then, during a meditation, I had an experience where I was shown that I was going down another wrong path. It was like another wake-up call—another chance to straighten things out.

What do you mean by “straightening out”?

Sam Kim: The way I understood it was that I would never be truly happy if I kept living that way. I’d always be chasing something.

And I didn’t want to chase anymore. I just wanted to be okay with where I am.

So I started listening to myself more. And the more I did that, the easier life became. There was less struggle, and things started to come to me when I actually needed them.

Sam Kim - Awakened Magazine

How would you describe your relationship with your guides? Is it one guide or many?

Sam Kim: I wouldn’t say it’s a specific figure like Jesus or Buddha. There’s no single name.

It feels more like a collective—a large group, almost interdimensional or galactic. The best way I can describe it is as energy, often appearing in different colors.

I can feel different presences in different situations, and the way they communicate also varies. The dialogue, the sensation—it’s different depending on who or what I’m connecting with.

If I met you on the street and asked what you do, how would you describe your work?

Sam Kim: I help people realize their own truth.

I help them face their fears, their challenges, and take accountability for their past. Because when we run from things, those patterns repeat—just in different forms and different places.

But when you sit with yourself and allow change to happen naturally—without forcing it—you begin to see new solutions when you actually need them.

So it’s really about helping people reconnect with their own power, their own belief, and their own direction.

At the end of the day, we all have an expiration date. So it’s about doing what you’re here to do—and doing it in a way that feels good, that feels aligned, and even fun.

What kind of people tend to come to you for support? Is there a particular stage of life or challenge they’re going through?

Sam Kim: Most of the people I work with are in their 20s or 30s—people trying to figure out life, maybe just out of college, looking for something more meaningful.

They want depth. They want direction. And I don’t really sugarcoat anything—I give them a realistic perspective based on my own experiences. I help them see that life isn’t just A, B, or C. There are many ways to get where you want to go.

It really comes down to how much you want it—your goals, your dreams—and I give them tools and perspectives to help them move forward in their own way.

If someone books a session with you, what would that experience look like?

Sam Kim: I usually start by asking a few basic questions—why they’re here, what they want to change, what challenges they’re facing, and what their strengths and weaknesses are.

From there, I tune in intuitively and begin offering different ways of looking at their situation. I help them shift their perspective so they can approach things more easily and with less resistance.

At the end of the day, we all want to create something or reach a goal. But there are many ways to do that. I often compare it to plumbing—if I understand the system and how everything connects, I don’t have to follow the blueprint exactly. I can find a more efficient way.

That’s what I offer—alternative ways of seeing and doing things.

Sam Kim - Awakened Magazine

Tell me about the copper pyramids and structures you create. How did that begin?

Sam Kim: It started after my near-death experience. I began having very intense dreams—almost like downloads.

About eight years ago, I had a dream about a specific copper structure, so I built it. Then, a few months later, another dream—so I built another one. It kept happening like that.

Over time, I realized I was receiving pieces of a larger design. As I started putting them together, more information would come—where to place them, what materials to use, how to assemble everything.

It’s very intuitive. I feel like these ideas come from higher sources—what some people might call Arcturians, Syrians, or Pleiadians. My intention is to use these structures as healing tools, both for individuals and for group meditations.

What is the structure behind you—the one hanging from the ceiling?

Sam Kim: That one is based on air-element geometry. I’m a Libra, an air sign, so that inspired me.

Inside the structure are forms that resemble DNA strands that I designed intuitively. The outer frame is copper, and there’s aluminum in the center.

I keep these structures around me because copper is highly conductive. Even Nikola Tesla used copper in many of his designs to support innovation and energy flow. In a way, I’m inspired by that—but doing it in my own way.

And the pyramid next to you—how is that used?

Sam Kim: That’s a larger, four-sided pyramid with a central structure inside. I’ve studied different copper-based modalities and how they can support physical, mental, and energetic well-being.

A lot of the designs come through what I’d call light codes or light language—impressions or images I receive and then translate into form.

When I use it for healing, I’ll sit or lie underneath it and ask for healing. I also use these structures during sessions with clients.

For someone going through a spiritual awakening and trying to integrate it into their life, what would you say to them?

Sam Kim: Keep it simple and practical. First—accept that it’s okay not to be okay.

Nothing stays the same forever. Things will change. But you have to take responsibility for yourself—accept your past, own it, and choose what you’re going to do moving forward.

I’ve been on this journey for years, and I’m not a guru. I’ve had ups and downs just like anyone else. The key is to keep going.

Sometimes things get worse before they get better. But you can’t let yourself drown in it. You have to look for solutions and remember—there’s never just one way forward.

Sam Kim - Awakened Magazine

What are you most focused on learning right now?

Sam Kim: Right now, I’m really focused on channeling—what some mediums call trans-speaking.

It’s about entering an altered state and delivering messages or healing through that state. I’m working on using my voice to communicate in a way that’s simple and accessible.

There’s so much information out there now—it can be overwhelming. I think it’s important to come back to the basics and express things in a way people can actually understand and use.

Do you work in that altered state during sessions with clients?

Sam Kim: Yes, depending on the session. Most of the time, I’m in a light-altered state—kind of half in and half out.

I don’t always need to go very deep. But if someone needs deeper healing, I’ll go into a deeper trance.

Since the electrocution, I’ve developed the ability to act as a kind of conductor—channeling information and energy in a way that’s easier for people to understand, no matter their background.

Is there something I haven’t asked you that you wish I had?

Sam Kim: I guess my goal.

At the end of the day, I want to help people not be afraid to stand out. Fear can really cripple you—mentally, emotionally, and even physically.

I want people to face what they’re going through, take ownership, and be open to new ways of changing their lives.

Ultimately, it’s about helping people step out of fear and live fully.

If someone wants to work with you, what do you offer?

Sam Kim: I offer a few different types of sessions, depending on what someone needs.

That includes psychic or mediumship readings, energy healing—both contact and non-contact—as well as breathwork, guided meditation, and practices people can use on their own.

Where can people find you?

Sam Kim: You can visit my website at CosmicLightForceHealing.com or email me at info@cosmiclightforcehealing.com. I’m also on Facebook and on Instagram.
