For sensitives, foresight and consciousness patterns that lead to the future are their lifeblood. The urge to know and understand themselves, others, and their environment is a powerful force. Enter joy. The emotion felt all over the body, but generated by hormones produced in the brain and the heart. The experience of joy can come from all sorts of encounters.
It is a logical assumption to associate Joy with happiness, but they are very different emotions. You don’t need to be happy to experience joy. Joy is more closely related energetically to relief, empowerment, epiphany, awakening, and even fear. It often shows up after or within the process of transition, at every juncture. Joy brings with it the clarity and resolution for which a conflict may have arisen.
I lived in an old bungalow apartment that shared one wall with another tenant. It was in Los Angeles proper, boxed in by traffic on all three sides, the din always reminded me of the continual rush of the ocean. The complex was once known as LA’s punk rock haven and had a storied history over the years as it housed many musicians, artists, and haunted people of all sorts.

There was always an enormous amount of emotional processing happening there, from grief to drug use to creativity, and the paranormal activity was potent. Just about everyone there was sensitive to the multidimensional world in some way. Personally, it was the place where I did most of my deep shadow work, transforming my karmic patterns one by one with tears. For some reason, my kitchen floor was a favorite spot to wail. The space there was less than a few feet across, encased by the appliance walls and cabinets. It felt safe.
On my knees, bent over in the throws of inconsolable keening, I would wail until I was certain the Creator had heard me. Or, until there were no more tears to be shed. Then, I would sit and wait…
In those moments, as the new chemicals of joy began to surge in my body, a sense of reassurance, calm, confidence, and relief would come over me. Nothing had changed, but now I could see the path to resolution, acceptance, victory, or just change. It didn’t matter which path I was to choose; I could now move forward. The clarity was uncanny.
Sometimes, I receive actual visions from the ancestors or other messages from the angels. As it turns out, you don’t have to wait for happiness to set in to make your moves; joy is the emotion that brings everything you need to craft a new situation, experience, and life. Joy expresses itself in every aspect of your being if you’ll only look for it. The more you identify it, the bigger and more powerful it gets. Just know that it is often ushered in by waves of feeling that must be released to create space for your joy.
TAKE ACTION: The next time you feel overwhelmed, let the emotion move through you instead of suppressing it, then pause and notice the subtle shift that follows. That sense of relief or clarity is joy guiding your next step. Explore more from Tracee Dunblazier.
