Do you love reading?
I really do. I learn so much from the words written in books.
What types of books do you like to read?
Personal development is my passion. You will often find me with my head in a personal development book with my trusty journal and pen by my side so that I can scribble down all the pearls of wisdom.
I love learning as much as I can.
Lately, I have been thinking about the key messages I have learned from reading so many incredible books.
I have been thinking of a way to condense everything down into something useful. Something I can keep with me to help me when I get stuck.
Whenever I feel uncertain, I can take a breath and remind myself to let life FLOW.
You can too:
F-Feel
L-Listen
O-Orientate
W-Walk
How does it help?
Let me explain:
F is for Feel – To know how you feel about something, tune into your emotions. Emotions are not good or bad. They provide us with vital clues about how we really feel about things, and this can help us to act in ways that support our wellbeing.

Here’s an example:
You have been invited to a party. What emotion do you feel?
If you feel excited or happy, it would be good to accept the invitation. If you are feeling dread, then you might decide not to go.
L is for Listen – Take a breath and tune in to your intuition or inner wisdom. Allowing time to do this can help you make good decisions. Some people can easily do this, while others find that a rating scale can help them tap into this important aspect of themselves.
Imagine a ladder. The bottom rung is 1. The top rung is 10. How are you feeling at this moment? A higher rung on the ladder indicates you feel good about the things that are happening in your life. A lower number indicates that you may need to take some actions to feel better.
O is for Orientate – Take some time to consider if the action you are about to take moves you closer to or further away from your dreams and goals. Think of a compass. A compass helps you to make sure that you are going in the right direction.
W is for Walk – Take a step, even if it is a baby step. What one thing could you do that would move you a step closer to where you wish to be?
Think back to the ladder – what action could you take to move up one rung on the ladder?
Using FLOW can help us make decisions that are right for us. We can use it regularly to help us keep on the right track.
I hope you find this helpful.
It is a simple summary of my key learnings from the many life-changing books that I have been lucky enough to read. It is something we can all use wherever we are in life to help us take the next positive step in the right direction.
