There was a moment (I remember it clearly) when I was sitting at my desk, a revised rate sheet open on my laptop, ready to email my list announcing a price increase. I’d been coaching for years at that point, my clients were getting results, and the math made complete sense.

And yet.

My gut sank. My chest got tight. My finger lingered over the send button for what felt like a very long time before I shut my laptop and told myself I’d do it tomorrow.

I didn’t do it tomorrow.

That pattern repeated itself more times than I’d like to admit. And here’s what eventually cracked it open for me: it had nothing to do with my rates. It wasn’t a strategy problem, a confidence problem, or even really a money problem. It was a body problem. A nervous system that had learned, somewhere along the way, that asking for more was dangerous.

That’s the piece most money conversations miss entirely.

It’s Not in Your Head: It’s in Your Body

We’ve been sold the idea that financial struggle is a mindset issue. Change your thoughts, shift your beliefs, repeat the affirmations. And while awareness absolutely matters, that framework misses something key: the body keeps score long after the mind has moved on.

Money patterns are more than just beliefs we hold intellectually. They’re responses that once made sense… and now run on autopilot, often working against us.

I grew up watching my mother work herself to the bone as a single parent. She moved up the corporate ladder, provided stability, and gave everything she had. But she rarely rested, and she didn’t love what she was doing. Without anyone ever saying a word about money directly to me, I absorbed the message: financial security costs you everything. You earn it through endurance, sacrifice, and selflessness.

That template became my template. And it showed up in my business in ways I didn’t recognize until I started paying attention to what was happening in my body, not just my bank account.

The chakra system offers a map for exactly this kind of inquiry. Not as a mystical bypass, but as a grounded structure for understanding where money patterns originate, how they’re held in the body, and what it actually takes to shift them at the source. Research into somatic therapy and nervous system regulation supports what energy practitioners have observed for decades: the body stores experience, and healing often begins there first.

The Chakra Map to Money

When a woman struggles with money, it’s rarely about a single isolated belief. It’s a layered pattern interlaced within her entire energy system, showing up differently depending on where the imprint lives. Here’s how that tends to look.

Root Chakra — Safety and Survival

The root chakra governs security, stability, and a sense of belonging. It’s where our most primal relationship with survival is held.

When this center is dysregulated, no amount of income creates calm. I’ve worked with women who earn consistently yet still check their bank accounts compulsively and brace for the moment it all falls apart.

That’s a root chakra imprint. It often originates in early experiences: financial instability in childhood, a parent’s anxiety about money, and cultural narratives that treated scarcity as the default. The body learned to stay on alert and kept that state even when circumstances changed.

Before any income goal, there’s a more fundamental question worth sitting with: Does your body actually believe you’re allowed to be financially safe?

Sacral Chakra — Receiving and Deserving

The sacral chakra governs pleasure, creativity, and flow, including the capacity to receive.

This is where the overgiving pattern lives for so many women. In my early years in business, I offered additional calls, extended access, or flexible payment plans. On the surface, it looked generous, while really it was an attempt to justify what I was charging by giving far more than the exchange required.

Overgiving isn’t generosity. It’s a blocked receiving channel. And when receiving feels uncomfortable — guilty, greedy, or somehow wrong, income tends to feel inconsistent, and money tends to feel hard.

The alignment shift here isn’t about becoming less generous; instead, it’s about learning to receive without apology, so that giving comes from abundance rather than depletion.

Solar Plexus Chakra — Power and Pricing

The solar plexus governs confidence, identity, and personal authority. This is where pricing lives and where most women feel it in their gut when something’s off.

You can know your value intellectually and still completely collapse when someone pushes back on your rates. You can have all the credentials and still soften your number at the last second. That’s not a strategy failure. That’s an embodied power gap. The solar plexus imprint often comes from environments where expressing confidence felt unsafe, where shrinking kept the peace, where deferring to others was rewarded, and asserting oneself was not.

When this center comes back online, pricing doesn’t feel like a performance. It feels like a statement of fact.

Heart Chakra — Worthiness and Service

The heart chakra governs love, compassion, and worthiness, and for spiritually oriented women, it’s often where the deepest money conflict lives.

The belief sounds something like: If I really care about the people I serve, I shouldn’t want more money for it. Or: Charging what I’m worth feels selfish when people are struggling. Service and prosperity feel like they’re on opposite ends of a spectrum, and choosing one means betraying the other.

This creates a pattern of over-delivering without sustainability, and the reframe is this: money is not the opposite of service. It’s what makes sustained service possible. Prosperity doesn’t compromise your integrity; it amplifies your impact.

Throat Chakra — Voice and Money Conversations

The throat chakra governs expression, truth, and communication, and a few things make the throat tighten faster than money conversations.

This shows up as over-explaining rates before anyone has questioned them, or hesitating to pursue unpaid invoices. When this center is constricted, financial desire gets silenced, and you edit yourself before you even open your mouth.

The work here is learning to speak about money the same way you speak about everything else you believe in: directly, cleanly, without apology.

Third Eye Chakra — Vision and Expansion Capacity

The third eye governs intuition, foresight, and the ability to hold a larger vision of what’s possible.

The money distortion here is subtle but significant. It’s not usually about execution; women with a blocked third eye can be incredibly capable operators. The struggle is expansion and trusting the version of themselves that earns more, leads more, and claims more space.

Identity and income are deeply linked. Your income ceiling tends to hover right around wherever your sense of self stops. The third-eye work is about letting the vision lead, even when the evidence hasn’t yet caught up.

Crown Chakra — Purpose and Prosperity

The crown chakra governs spiritual connection and higher meaning. When it’s disconnected, money starts to feel ego-driven, like wanting more is somehow a betrayal of the path.

This creates a pattern of artificially capping growth to stay spiritually “safe.” When the crown is aligned, the relationship with money shifts entirely, and purpose and financial expansion stop being in conflict and start pointing in the same direction.

From Disjointed to Coherent

Financial transformation is more than fixing one chakra. It’s about bringing the entire system into coherence so that safety, worthiness, voice, vision, and purpose are no longer pulling against each other.

That means nervous system regulation alongside strategy. Without the inner work, even the best strategy tends to hit the same invisible walls.

The women I work with at The Light Working Group aren’t lacking discipline or drive. They’re carrying imprints that haven’t been addressed yet, patterns formed long before they ever opened a business or sent an invoice. And when those patterns begin to shift, something changes that no spreadsheet can manufacture: they start to feel safe in their own financial story.

That’s where real growth begins.

A Few Questions Worth Sitting With

Before you close this tab and move on to the next thing, take a moment. These aren’t performance questions. There are no right answers. They’re invitations to notice.

Where in my body do I feel money fear most often, and when did that feeling first make sense?

Where am I giving more than the exchange requires, and what am I hoping to receive in return?

Where do I silence myself financially (in proposals, negotiations, invoices, or conversations), and what would it take to speak more clearly?

Where does my vision of expansion stop, and does that stopping point match my current identity or my actual capacity?

Where do prosperity and purpose feel like they’re in conflict, and what would it mean if they weren’t?

You didn’t develop a complicated relationship with money because something is wrong with you; you did so because you’re human, and humans absorb what they live. The patterns were formed for a reason. The invitation now is simply to notice them, to bring them into the light rather than fight them in the dark. When your energy aligns, your income follows. Not because money changed, but because you did.

If this hit home and you’re ready to go deeper than strategy, I’d love to support you in that. I built The Light Working Group out of work I’ve done firsthand — in my own body, my own business, and my own relationship journey with money — and it’s a space where energetic alignment and actual results aren’t treated as separate conversations.

If your pattern shows up as chronic undercharging, difficulty receiving, or a persistent sense that financial safety is constantly just out of reach, the work we do together gets underneath the surface noise and into the imprints that are actually running the show. This isn’t about fixing what’s broken. It’s about coming into accord with what’s already there.
