The Power Of Not Knowing
We spend much of our lives trying to make sense of things, to know, to plan, to predict. But what if mystery is not something to be solved, but something to be in relationship with?
To live in relationship with mystery is to allow the unknown to become an ally rather than an adversary, to trust what we cannot yet see, and to honor the sacred rhythms that move through our lives beyond our control.

Over the years, mystery has found countless ways to remind me of its presence.
Once, while apprenticing with a Native American medicine man, I was sent into the field to meditate on a plant I didn’t recognize. As I sat with it, my perception began to shift—the plant seemed to transform before my eyes into unmistakably phallic shapes. I couldn’t help but laugh, convinced I was imagining it. Later, in the teaching circle, my teacher laughed too and revealed that the plant was a male tonic. My vision, it turned out, was true. Could what I’d dismissed as imagination have actually been a glimpse of my capacity to connect and communicate with the unknown?
Another time, while teaching movement, my client was deft and strong in most exercises but couldn’t complete one simple movement. When she, exasperated, asked why, a medical term I’d never heard before came flying out of my mouth. She was startled, stopped working with me, but years later wrote to say the diagnosis had been confirmed.
When a client once asked if this “talent” ran in my ancestry, I honestly said I didn’t know. I don’t think of it as a talent, but as what happens when we quiet the thinking mind and allow perception to widen. Mystery speaks in symbols, sensations, and synchronicities, waiting for us to notice.
When I first began teaching Radiant Human Meditation more than a decade ago, I arrived armed with research, ready to explain energy coherence, biofields, and psychoneuroimmunology. My students, however, were not looking for data. They wanted to understand what to do with their experiences—the dreams, sensations, and synchronicities that defied rational explanation.
Over time, I came to see that intuition isn’t about controlling outcomes or predicting the future; it’s about communion. It’s a conversation with mystery, not mastery over it. When we allow ourselves not to know, we enter the field of infinite possibility, the same field that mystics, scientists, and leaders have been listening to for centuries.
The Mystery That Breathes Us
To live in relationship with mystery is to recognize that we are already inside of it. Every cell in our body moves to rhythms we did not invent. The tides, the moon, and the rise and fall of breath are the invisible threads that weave our existence into the greater whole.
We often imagine life as something we control through willpower, intellect, and intention. Yet the truth is more wondrous and humbling. The same breath that moves through the trees moves through us. The same magnetic forces that draw the ocean’s tide pull the fluids of our bodies in subtle synchrony. The same cosmic clock that governs lunar cycles modulates our hormones, sleep, moods, and even dreams.
Modern chronobiology has begun to affirm what ancient mystics always knew: the human body is not separate from the cosmos—it’s an expression of it. Lunar light, solar radiation, gravitational pull, and electromagnetic resonance all influence the delicate timing of our internal clocks.
Research has shown that during the full moon, deep sleep can decrease by up to 30 percent, melatonin levels drop, and human sleep rhythms remain synchronized with the lunar cycle even in urban populations where moonlight is obscured by manmade light.
But our modern lives can still pull us out of this natural synchronization. Artificial light, constant connectivity, and around-the-clock productivity are disruptive to the conversation between body and cosmos. Shift work, stress, and screen time scramble the subtle timing that regulates our internal clock. We begin to live by man-made rhythms rather than cosmic ones, and our bodies quietly rebel.
When we lose connection with these natural cycles, it’s easy to forget that not knowing is not dangerous—it’s design. The mystery of night, the dark womb of winter, and the pause between breaths are not interruptions in life’s flow but essential phases of restoration.
When we realign with natural rhythms, the nervous system begins to synchronize, creativity resurfaces, and intuition clarifies. We start to feel the deep exhale of life moving through us again.
The more we attune to these rhythms—through stillness, breath, awareness, and trust—the more gracefully we can navigate uncertainty. We stop resisting what is cyclical, impermanent, unknowable. We begin to thrive beyond certainty. Mystery ceases to be something to solve and becomes something to live with: a rhythm to dance to, a tide to surf, a breath to receive.

The Body as Portal to Mystery
The body is the meeting point of the seen and unseen, the conscious and unconscious, the known and the unknowable.
In Western medicine, the heart was once considered little more than a mechanical pump. We now know it’s also a neurological, endocrine, and electromagnetic organ generating a measurable biofield that communicates with every other cell in the body. Its rhythms entrain the brain, the immune system, and even the subtle information fields that surround us.
When we enter deep meditation, something extraordinary happens: the boundaries between the personal and transpersonal begin to dissolve. The breath slows, the mind quiets, and awareness expands from the small self into a greater coherence. We begin to sense what mystics and yogis describe as the subtle body, a luminous, intelligent field that exists in constant dialogue with the cosmos.
Radiant Human Meditation emerged from this discovery. It is a practice of attunement, of allowing the breath to move through the body as a wave of consciousness. As we sweep awareness, we awaken magnetic intelligence. Circulation improves, the nervous system settles, and energy begins to flow with the rhythm of life itself.
The Art of Listening
When we approach meditation as a technique for control—to quiet the mind, to feel better, to perform better—we miss its essence. Meditation is not a doing; it’s an allowing. It is the art of listening to what is already present, of trusting what we cannot yet see.
Many people say, “I’m not good at meditation. I don’t know if I’m doing it right.” But the whole point of meditation is not knowing. The conscious mind—the one that wants to evaluate and achieve—is precisely the part that must soften for deeper awareness to arise.
In neuroscience, this corresponds to a shift from the analytical, problem-solving networks of the brain to what’s known as the observer mind, a state of meta-awareness that allows us to witness experience without getting lost in it. This witnessing activates integration and helps us perceive subtler rhythms: the pulse of emotion, the movement of energy, and the intelligence within sensation.
The more we listen, the more we realize that mystery is not outside of us—it’s inside every breath, every heartbeat, every moment of surrender.
Practicing Radiant Human Meditation to Connect with the Unknown
The core of working with mystery is embodied awareness, the willingness to let the body become the bridge between the known and the unseen.
Radiant Human Meditation (RHM) is a whole-body practice that awakens the observing mind by following sensations at the level of the breath, sweeping awareness through the body, and attuning to the subtle field of consciousness that connects us with the greater whole.

Simplified Practice Steps to Work with Gratitude as a Frequency of Grace that Entrains with Universal Wisdom
Gratitude is more than a feeling; it’s a measurable state of physiological and energetic harmony. Research shows that when we cultivate gratitude, the heart enters a state of coherence—a rhythm that synchronizes the body’s systems and enhances intuitive awareness. This coherence bridges emotion and awareness, allowing the body to entrain with what mystics describe as universal wisdom.
Begin with Breath & Grounding: Take several full belly breaths. Let tension melt away and feel your body supported by the seat beneath you.
Set an Intention Screen: Imagine a screen where you project images or memories that evoke grounding, gratitude, or love.
Embodied Feeling: Let these images evoke sensations in your body. Stay with the sensations rather than the story.
Heart Radiance Expansion: Inhale into the heart from all directions; exhale light outward into every cell and into the surrounding space.
Rest in Stillness: When the breath becomes subtle, rest in the quiet afterglow before returning to ordinary awareness.
This gentle, playful practice helps regulate the nervous system and align the heart’s electromagnetic field with coherence, fostering intuitive clarity, calm, and a lived relationship with the unknown.
Leading Through Mystery
In a world that rewards certainty, strategy, and speed, the most visionary leaders are those who can pause, listen, and lead from alignment with deeper intelligence. They recognize that leadership is not about control—it’s about coherence.
For conscious leaders, mystery is not a problem to manage; it’s a power to partner with. When we lead from mystery, the qualities that once defined leadership—assertion, analysis, and control—give way to presence, resonance, and trust in timing.
Decisions emerge from resonance, not reactivity.
Innovation flows from intuition, not fear.
- Teams align through coherence, not command.
- Decisions are no longer right or wrong, but investments in outcomes we’re willing to see through.
Leading this way invites a new kind of intelligence—one that listens before it acts, trusts the natural timing of things, and understands that mystery is not chaos but the creative field through which all great visions are born.
