Soulful Evolution: Breaking the Cycles in Your Bloodline – An Interview with Allison Carmany

Allison Carmany is a psychic medium, spiritual teacher, and founder of Soulful Evolution with more than 25 years of experience. She helps people strengthen their intuition, deepen spiritual connection, and transform their lives. Learn more at www.soulfulevolution.com.

What if the family patterns you keep repeating aren’t actually yours to carry?

At nineteen, Allison Carmany was told she’d need medication for the rest of her life. Instead of accepting that, she went searching for something more, a search that took her across the world and eventually into a career as a personal coach. Then in 2020, everything changed. During a life coaching call, she saw someone standing beside her client who wasn’t physically there. That experience opened the door to helping people in a whole new way.

Today Allison is a psychic medium and founder of Soulful Evolution. She explains how messages from loved ones can bring inherited family patterns to the surface, offer closure, and help people reconnect with their own intuition instead of always looking outside themselves for answers.

Allison Carmany - Awakened Magazine

I’d love to hear your story of awakening to consciousness, mindfulness, or spirituality, however you would describe it. If you don’t mind, let’s go back to your childhood. Did you have any early experiences with faith or spirituality, or did that come later?

Allison Carmany: When I was 19, I was diagnosed with a condition and told I would need to take steroids and anti-inflammatory medication for the rest of my life. Initially, I accepted that story, but eventually I thought, “Wait, there has to be something else.”

I began researching holistic health, which led me into spirituality, consciousness, and metaphysics. For approximately 25 years, I studied everything I could find.

That journey eventually brought me into coaching, both personal and business-related, along with an obsession with finding answers. I traveled to every continent, searching the world and asking, “What is the answer to all of this?”

I feel that exploration became the catalyst for the much larger awakening I experienced in 2020.

That year sounds strangely familiar for some reason!

Allison Carmany: Everything slowed down. I couldn’t travel, and all my usual distractions disappeared.

During a coaching session, I was speaking with someone who was going through a difficult time. As we talked, I suddenly thought, “Wait, someone else is here.”

I saw a spirit who looked as distinct as the ghostly figures you might see appearing beside you on a Disney ride. I had never experienced anything like that before, so I was frightened.

I said, “This person is wearing a sun hat and a purple dress, and she has pearl earrings.”

My client responded, “That’s my Aunt Pearl.”

Then I said, “Wait, someone else is here, and they’re arguing about money.”

She told me, “That’s my mother and Aunt Pearl. All they ever did was argue about money.”

I thought, “This is crazy.”

I didn’t have anyone to discuss the experience with. It was my first direct encounter with something beyond the physical realm. I had studied these concepts, but until then, they had remained entirely theoretical.

When I told a friend what happened, she said, “You need to go to Lily Dale in New York. It’s a residential Spiritualist community with generations of psychic mediums, and they offer education there. They’ll be able to help you.”

I looked it up and found an introductory week, so I went. The moment I arrived, it felt like home. The energy made me feel as though I had been waiting forever to be there. It was the connection I had been missing.

Had you sensed any of this when you were younger? Did anyone in your family have similar abilities, or was everything entirely new in 2020?

Allison Carmany: Looking back, I can see that whenever I helped people, I was psychically tuning in. I simply knew what to tell them. I would think, “Of course this is what they should do.”

That was my psychic sense at work, but I didn’t know I was psychic until mediumship emerged and I began seeing things.

I studied psychic mediumship at Lily Dale for two years, earned certifications, completed hundreds of readings, and developed a deeper understanding of the spirit world. But I was doing it to understand myself and what I was experiencing.

I had no intention of working professionally or adopting a title. I knew mediumship was taboo in society, so I thought, “No, thank you.” When I finished school, I considered the experience complete.

But as in the hero’s journey, the calling returned.

My partner knew what was happening and said, “This is too unusual. Let’s connect you online with strangers and see whether you can do it with them.”

I said, “Okay, let’s try.”

We found a website that randomly connected people around the world for conversation. It wasn’t designed for psychic readings; people were simply there to meet one another.

So it was essentially a friendship and conversation platform?

Allison Carmany: Yes. I don’t know why everyone else was there, but I was using it to practice.

We began recording the conversations, and my partner said, “We have to put these online.” He started posting them, and that became the beginning of everything.

Suddenly, I had approximately 250,000 followers on YouTube, 100,000 on Instagram, and hundreds of messages arriving every day. It felt as though everything had been born at once.

I don’t see myself solely as a psychic medium. I’m a spiritual person walking the path myself. My work is about embodied spirituality and practical ways of helping people; mediumship is one of the tools I use.

I’ve studied many other modalities for my own growth, and I think people felt that authenticity. They could sense that I could genuinely help, and that’s what brought so many people to my doorstep.

Allison Carmany - Awakened Magazine

When you first joined that website, what happened? Did you ask people whether you could tune in, or did the information come through automatically?

Allison Carmany: I can sit with someone and tune in within a second. On that platform, I really did have only a second because people could skip to the next person immediately. It was almost like roulette.

I had to be accurate, honest, and direct very quickly. The experience became a way for me to practice and refine my abilities.

Why do you do this work now? What motivates and drives you?

Allison Carmany: I’m fascinated by the spirit world. We live within this physical, three-dimensional reality and often assume it’s all that exists, but there’s another world beyond it. I want answers about that world.

When I’m working psychically, I’m in control. I direct the session and use the information to help the person.

When I connect with Spirit and someone’s departed loved ones, the process is different. Connecting with Spirit can also involve angels, interdimensional beings, and many other energies, but my work with loved ones is evidential mediumship. I bring through details the client can verify.

That evidence matters to me because part of me is still asking, “Is this true?” I want to provide information that confirms the loved one’s identity.

The deeper purpose is generational healing. I help people interrupt family patterns that have continued for years. The evidence may bring closure, but I also want to enter the family dynamics and uncover something specific enough that the client says, “Yes, this is undeniable. There is no way you could have guessed this.”

My motivation is to help people heal. We always teach what we need to learn, so I’m continually going deeper into my own healing.

I’m fascinated—perhaps even obsessed—with understanding how to help people more deeply and support the expansion of consciousness. This work isn’t simply about saying, “That was interesting; you brought someone through.”

It’s an experience that can shift a person’s perception and help them understand that they’re more than their physical body.

Approximately three and a half years ago, I visited the breathwork and meditation studio Behind the Lids, which my partner owns, here in Southern California. She had invited a medium to lead a group reading for about 20 people, and I had never experienced anything like that.

In my former life, I was a Christian pastor for a decade before leaving ministry in 2008. Part of me still thought, “I don’t think we’re supposed to do this.” I didn’t truly know what I was walking into.

The medium began calling out names, dates, and specific details. I found myself thinking, “If what she’s doing is possible, what else might be possible that I don’t currently understand or believe?” That experience opened me to an entirely new way of seeing life and the world. Do you see similar realizations happening for your clients?

Allison Carmany: Yes. When I work, information reaches me through vision, hearing, feeling, and knowing. All those intuitive senses are active.

What you said about religion and the taboos surrounding mediumship is important. I believe everyone has access to their intuition and inner truth, but many people are stopped by the question, “Is this acceptable?”

Religion and other forms of conditioning may teach us that we shouldn’t connect beyond the five physical senses. People wonder whether something dark might be waiting there.

The reality is that darkness and light both exist. If we remain trapped in fear, experiences can feel dark. But when we acknowledge what is there and bring it into the light, we can choose to walk within the light.

What happens during one of your sessions? When someone sits down with you, how does the process unfold? How long are your sessions, and how much coaching is involved?

Allison Carmany: I prefer longer sessions because when I connect with someone, I want to enter the deeper material that has been buried.

I look at the person’s lineage rather than focusing only on what is happening in their present life. What they’re experiencing may be connected to patterns carried through their DNA and bloodline.

As soon as I connect, I might perceive a history of alcoholism, betrayal, financial distress, chaos, or another repeating pattern. I help the person explore what remains emotionally lodged within them.

Often, I’ll see that something happened with the grandparents, then appeared again with the parents, and is now playing out in the client’s life. The situation may look different, but the underlying energy is the same.

If someone comes from a family affected by alcoholism, for example, the inherited pattern may include similar beliefs, emotions, and coping mechanisms. We have to identify and interrupt that cycle.

We begin becoming cycle-breakers when we question why we’re doing something. That questioning creates awareness. Instead of automatically reaching for a drink, someone might pause and think, “Maybe I don’t want this.”

I help people bring those patterns into awareness so they can heal them more deeply rather than continuing the same cycles for another generation.

Allison Carmany - Awakened Magazine

Once you’ve brought a pattern to light, do you use your coaching skills to help the person change their thinking? Is there also a spiritual or energetic process of breaking ties?

Allison Carmany: When I work with someone, I’m also working with their ancestors and Spirit. I engage with the energy and bring it through while waiting for a shift to occur.

Sometimes I hold the person within that moment of awareness until the realization fully lands. The work may go deeper depending on where the individual is and how much healing they’re ready to experience.

I meet people where they are and work with the depth they can hold. Usually, someone comes to me because they’re in a transition or awakening. They want to understand themselves better, trust themselves more deeply, and strengthen their connection to their own power and to life.

They may not consciously know that’s why they’ve come, but it’s often what rises to the surface—and what they ultimately receive from the experience.

Countless mediums and psychics are online. From your perspective, what draws people specifically to you for help and support?

Allison Carmany: Someone trained solely as a psychic or medium may focus primarily on giving readings. I see myself as a spiritual teacher.

I’ve walked this path personally, and my experience has taught me how to help someone integrate what they receive, embody their power, strengthen their intuition, and trust themselves.

There’s nothing wrong with consulting a psychic medium, but when someone continually seeks answers outside themselves, they can become disconnected from their own guidance. My goal is to reconnect people with their intuition and personal power.

That connection helps them recognize when something feels wrong, even if it looks wonderful on paper. They may move forward with something that appears perfect, even though they intuitively know it isn’t right for them.

I see myself as a guide and mentor, not someone who simply gives a person an answer and tells them to keep returning for more. I want them to rebuild that connection within themselves.

I’ve watched clips from what you call the Soulful Evolution Live Readings, and I love how they’re edited—they immediately pull me in. What is a Soulful Evolution Live Reading, and how does it work?

Allison Carmany: Soulful Evolution is my brand. Many people don’t believe psychic abilities or mediumship are possible, and we know there are also inauthentic practitioners in the world.

To demonstrate the work openly, I offer free live readings to the public every Thursday night through Zoom. We randomly select participants from the chat and bring them into the conversation.

I give each person a short reading intended to help them release a blockage, trust their intuition, reconnect with themselves, find closure, or receive whatever they need in that moment. It’s a public demonstration of Spirit that helps people understand how the process works.

Hundreds of people may be present while I’m reading one individual. Someone might assume there’s nothing for them because they weren’t selected, but I teach through every reading.

Human beings face universal challenges, so a reading for one person may also contain the exact message someone else needs. Sometimes people can receive guidance more easily when it’s given indirectly to another person rather than addressed to them.

That’s often how Spirit works in our lives. A book falls from a shelf, or a message arrives through an unexpected person. The answer comes, but not necessarily in the way we anticipated.

Are those primarily psychic readings rather than mediumship readings?

Allison Carmany: I offer both psychic and mediumship readings. Psychic readings tend to move more quickly, so I can offer several during a live event.

I give mediumship readings more time because Spirit directs the process. I have to allow the connection to unfold and build the evidence.

I try to bring through at least four pieces of information confirming the identity of the person who has passed. Then, when I deliver the message, it carries greater weight because the recipient believes their loved one is genuinely communicating with them.

Allison Carmany - Awakened Magazine

Before someone receives a psychic or mediumship reading from you, what should they do, or avoid doing, to prepare? Do you want a lot of background information or very little? Should they fast for 24 hours? What mindset should they bring?

Allison Carmany: The more information someone gives me, the more difficult the reading becomes because my analytical mind can interfere. Ideally, I want a blank slate and someone open to the experience.

I’ve also read people who weren’t open and didn’t know what to expect. Preparation isn’t strictly necessary. The more receptive someone is, the more expansive the session may become, but they don’t have to do anything special beforehand.

I trust that I’ll receive the information they need at that moment.

After someone receives information, whether through a loved one or a psychic reading, what do you hope they’ll do with it? What are your instructions afterward?

Allison Carmany: My objective during every session, whether it lasts 10 minutes or an hour, is transformation. I want that interaction to change something in the person’s life.

That might happen through a shift in perception, belief, thinking, or the way they’re living. I want them to leave the session and do something differently because of what they experienced.

Do you still receive readings yourself?

Allison Carmany: I used to receive many readings, but now I feel capable of reading for myself intuitively. Everyone can develop that ability.

When you first wake up and just before you fall asleep, your brain enters a theta-wave state—a dreamlike state that can make it easier to connect with the spirit world. Those are good times to ask whether there’s something you need to receive.

Do you work with particular guides? Some people describe having a specific angel, animal guide, or archangel with whom they connect. Is that your experience, or do you relate more broadly to Spirit with a capital S?

Allison Carmany: I believe everyone has one personal guide who remains with them. Other guides may enter during different periods, especially when someone is facing a particular challenge.

The same can be true of departed loved ones. Different guides or family members may come forward depending on what the person is experiencing.

I feel that I work with a team of guides, although I don’t assign specific names to them. I know I’m not working alone, and when I read for someone, I also connect with that person’s guides.

You mentioned that the early morning theta state can make connection easier. If someone wants to cultivate a daily practice for guidance in work, parenting, relationships, or finances, what steps would you recommend?

Allison Carmany: We’re entering a time when it will become increasingly difficult to know what is real and what is artificial. We’ll need to develop discernment.

A simple way to begin is to avoid reaching for your phone the moment you wake up. Instead, tune in to yourself. Even if you have only five minutes, use that time to connect inwardly.

Tune in to Spirit and ask what information you need to receive. That’s a starting point for developing intuition.

I also recommend meditating regularly. Choose a practice that allows you to shut out the external world and connect with your inner world.

We constantly absorb input from outside ourselves and search externally for validation. We have to step away from that static to reconnect with ourselves, and doing so requires the discipline to make time for it every day.

Allison Carmany - Awakened Magazine

I also noticed that you offer a money-back guarantee. I connect with many readers, healers, and channels, but I don’t often see that on someone’s website. What exactly does your guarantee cover?

Allison Carmany: If someone isn’t satisfied or feels they didn’t receive what they came for, I return their money.

I’m here to serve people; the work isn’t about the money. A major concern people have about psychic mediums is whether the experience is genuine. My response is, “If you aren’t sure it’s real, come and experience it. If you aren’t satisfied, I’ll give you your money back.”

The guarantee helps people feel comfortable making that decision.

Have you ever had to refund someone?

Allison Carmany: There have been times when I’ve said, “I’m sorry. I can connect with you psychically, but I can’t bring through the particular loved one you wanted to hear from.”

That has to do with the connection. It doesn’t happen often, but when it does, I return the person’s money.

I would probably say, “I don’t like this psychic information. I want something more positive, give me my money back!” In all seriousness, it’s very openhearted of you. You genuinely want the best for people.

More recently, you launched AstroReport.ai. What does the site provide, and how can it benefit someone?

Allison Carmany: We recently launched the site, although we spent two years developing it. It uses AI to create personalized astrology reports.

So many people want readings, but I can serve only a limited number individually. I see astrology as a blueprint for the soul in this lifetime. It can reflect who you are and the mission you’ve been given.

We built AstroReport.ai to give people access to that kind of reading. It uses planetary data and AI to produce highly personalized reports. People have been amazed by the specificity.

The first report is currently free because we’re still refining the experience and want as much feedback as possible. We’re also preparing to release it through the Apple App Store.

The report identifies specific dates and offers guidance about what someone may want to do or avoid. For example, one of the developers working with us received a warning that his physical energy would be weak on a particular date and that he should avoid driving. He drove that day and was involved in a car accident. When we reviewed his report afterward, the warning was there.

Another person on our team received a warning to be cautious about scams on a certain date. She later messaged me to say that her bank account had been compromised and that no one should send money to it. Her report had cautioned her about that possibility.

Do they need their exact birth time as well?

Allison Carmany: The exact time is ideal, but sometimes people don’t know it. We’ve found that entering noon can still produce a report, although the specific birth time is preferable.

Allison Carmany - Awakened Magazine

I also noticed that you offer energy clearings. What does that work involve?

Allison Carmany: I perceive thought forms, impressions, generational patterns, and other energies that can become lodged in someone’s body, aura, or surrounding field.

Through an energy-clearing session, I work directly with what feels stuck. That can sometimes bypass the need to process everything cognitively before creating movement.

People have told me afterward that they feel clearer, more grounded, and better able to make decisions. Initially, I didn’t necessarily believe this kind of work was possible either. But after working with people and hearing their feedback, I came to trust that it can create meaningful shifts.

I’m curious about the business side of spiritual healing, readings, and related services because many of our listeners want to begin using their own gifts. I see two significant challenges.

The first is becoming comfortable enough to put yourself out there and say, “I’m doing this. Here I am.” That involves marketing and communication. You project a sense of confidence in presenting yourself to the world. Did that come naturally, or did someone help you develop it?

Allison Carmany: I think visibility is difficult for many lightworkers. By lightworkers, I mean people who are spiritually oriented and seeking something more.

It can be difficult for us to emerge from the darkness because of everything that has happened in the past. Historically, revealing yourself could mean being burned. In places affected by war, being different and visible could place someone in danger.

I think coming forward is challenging for many of us. It requires courage to push yourself into the world.

For a long time, I struggled to become comfortable with being visible. It has been an ongoing journey, and sometimes you simply have to keep moving forward.

I often hear that someone either had a partner with a talent for marketing who became the engine behind them, or they hired someone to help. Was either of those true for you, or did you do everything yourself?

Allison Carmany: My partner was the person who pushed me forward. Without him, I might still be watching instructional videos about how to do everything. Staying in the learning phase feels much more comfortable than becoming visible.

He continued encouraging me to move forward. But another thing that helped was recognizing that I have a mission to awaken people.

That sense of mission is so powerful that it overrides my desire to remain small. Part of me would love to say, “I simply want to go to lunch, exercise, and not deal with any of this.” But this feels like a calling and mission beyond myself.

I have a hunger, drive, and desire to fulfill that mission. Focusing on it helps me move through my fear of visibility and any resistance I feel about showing up.

That resonates with me. My own sense of mission and desire to serve help me overcome the difficult parts, even when the challenge isn’t visibility. It might be administrative work or another task I don’t want to do, but purpose tells me, “Keep going. This is why you’re doing it.”

I also notice that when people want everything to be perfect, their focus can drift from service toward performance—not because they’re consciously trying to perform, but because they want every detail to be exactly right. How do we remain focused on serving people?

Allison Carmany: That’s a loop people frequently get trapped in. Perfectionism often involves seeking external validation rather than simply showing up.

People today are looking for authenticity, which I consider the highest vibrational frequency. They’ll seek it even more as the world contains less of it.

The more you can show up within your mess—the more you can recognize that your mess is your message—the more people will resonate with you. You don’t have to be perfect, say the right thing precisely, or do everything flawlessly. People connect because they recognize themselves in you.

The other challenge I often hear is discomfort around charging money. Someone might price a service at $25 even though its appropriate value is closer to $125 or $225. Was the financial aspect difficult for you to navigate?

Allison Carmany: It was definitely challenging, but money is simply a form of exchange. It’s energy. If we didn’t use money, perhaps we would trade pens or some other object.

From a spiritual perspective, we can understand money as an act of receiving. We have to become comfortable allowing ourselves to receive.

You’re giving someone your time and experience. You may have spent decades studying and growing personally so that you can hold space for another person. That has significant value.

If you continually overgive without receiving, you’ll become exhausted and depleted. Receiving compensation allows you to keep investing in yourself, learning, growing, and creating a larger impact. That’s the mindset I believe we need when charging for our work.

Allison Carmany - Awakened Magazine

Absolutely. A phrase I often remember, especially in the online course world, is, “When people pay, they pay attention.” When someone makes an investment, they take the experience more seriously.

A person who invests in a full reading with you will probably value it differently from someone receiving a short reading during a free Zoom event. The free event is a wonderful entry point, but the level of investment changes the experience.

Allison Carmany: By investing money, the person is investing energy. Because they’ve put energy into the experience, they’re prepared to receive more value from it.

It’s also their soul saying, “I’m ready. I’m showing up.” That’s one way energy enters the exchange.

Is there a question you wish I had asked, something you hoped we would discuss?

Allison Carmany: I’d like to talk about what I believe is happening on the planet and how people may be affected.

What do you sense is unfolding?

Allison Carmany: I believe we’re experiencing a massive collective awakening and that the planet’s vibration is rising. I understand this as something science is also beginning to study, along with the sense that time is accelerating.

From my perspective, solar flares and eclipses bring more light to the planet, and that light affects our bodies. Because we have light bodies, I believe these experiences create energetic upgrades.

As more light enters, we may also witness increasing chaos in the world and within our personal lives. That makes it especially important to ground our bodies and connect with the Earth.

Our bodies resonate with the Earth’s frequency, including what is called the Schumann resonance. The more grounded we remain, the less likely we are to be swept away by everything happening outside us.

Go outdoors without shoes for 10 minutes. Connect with nature, return your awareness to the Earth, and allow yourself to feel grounded.

More than ever, we need that grounding to stay clear and connected to ourselves.

There’s certainly a great deal of transition happening. I’ve been asking guests a fun closing question, and I didn’t prepare you for it: Is there a recent purchase under $100—an object or even a service—that has affected your life in some meaningful way?

Allison Carmany: I love books and am always studying. Right now, I’m reading The God Code by Gregg Braden.

Books are among the best purchases we can make because someone may condense decades of research and knowledge into a single volume. We can absorb what another person has learned and apply it to our own lives.

Each of us can have only so many personal experiences, and we need to learn quickly in this world. Books allow us to benefit from the experiences and knowledge of others.

Where can people connect with you and book a reading? We’ve already mentioned AstroReport.ai, but what is the best place to find your work?
