Today’s focus is upon Compassion.

What does Compassion mean to you?

To me, Compassion has to do with how people think and feel. It is connected to feelings of Empathy that we have.

Compassion and Empathy are connected but not the same.

Empathy is where you are aware of someone’s emotional distress, and Compassion is where you desire to help and support them.

Who do you feel compassionate towards?

Maybe you desire to help and support family members and loved ones?

It is wonderful to wish to help other people, and equally important to be compassionate towards yourself.

When someone you care about is in distress, do you try to help them?

What about when you are feeling distressed?  Are you able to show Compassion towards yourself?

Some people can show Compassion to other people but struggle to show Compassion towards themselves.

If you struggle with this, try treating yourself as you would a good friend.  It is often easier to be compassionate towards yourself if you use this approach.

It is also important to be compassionate towards animals and our environment.

Doing what we can to support anyone or anything needing our support is so important.

TAKE ACTION: On Cathy’s book Together Let’s Find Ways To Happier Days! She explores how being kinder to ourselves and others enables us to show Compassion and feel happier. All profits from the book go to fund Cathy’s Wellbeing Club and Wanderer’s Haven Animal Sanctuary.
