What I’ve learned about the energetic connections we create through love, sex, and vulnerability—and why some people enter our lives to awaken us rather than stay.
I have always believed that intimacy is about more than two bodies coming together.

There is something that happens when we allow another person into the most vulnerable parts of ourselves. We open emotionally. We open physically. And sometimes, without realizing it, we open energetically.
I have experienced connections that felt almost impossible to explain. In this kind, you meet someone, and there is an immediate familiarity, a pull that doesn’t seem to make sense, a connection that feels much bigger than the amount of time you’ve actually known one another.
For a long time, I questioned those experiences. Was it chemistry? Was it attraction? Was it attachment? Was it something spiritual? Or was there something happening between two souls that I simply couldn’t explain?
This is where my understanding of soul ties began.
I don’t believe every intense relationship is a soul tie, and I don’t believe every person we feel deeply connected to is meant to stay in our lives. But I do believe certain relationships can leave an energetic and emotional imprint on us. Sometimes that imprint remains long after the person is gone.
I’ve learned that intimacy can create attachment in ways we don’t always understand.
When we become physically intimate with someone, we may feel bonded to them emotionally, psychologically, spiritually, and physically. For me, this became something I had to look at honestly. Sometimes what I thought was a deep soul connection was also revealing a deeper part of myself that still wanted to be chosen.
I could feel the pull toward someone and interpret that intensity as proof that the relationship was meant to be.
But I’ve learned something important: Intensity does not always equal alignment.
Sometimes a person enters your life and activates something within you that has been waiting to be healed.
They may awaken your desire. They may awaken your sexuality. They may awaken your heart. They may awaken your abandonment wound. They may awaken the part of you that has spent years wondering whether you are enough.
And when that happens, it can feel incredibly powerful.
But powerful does not always mean permanent.
Some people are catalysts.
This has become one of the deepest lessons of my own journey.
I have had relationships and connections that changed me, not necessarily because they lasted, but because of what they revealed.
They showed me where I was still looking outside myself for validation. They showed me where I was willing to accept uncertainty because I wanted the connection to work. They showed me where I needed stronger boundaries. They showed me where I still had healing to do.
Eventually, I began asking a different question.
Instead of asking, “Why can’t I let this person go?” I started asking, “What is this connection asking me to learn about myself?”
That question changed everything.
I think we can sometimes confuse a soul tie with a soulmate.

We feel an incredible connection and immediately decide, This must be my person. This must be destiny. I’ve never felt this way before.
Maybe.
But maybe the connection came to awaken you rather than become your forever relationship.
A person can be spiritually significant and still not be emotionally available. A connection can be profound and still not be healthy. Someone can awaken your heart and still not be capable of holding it.
That realization has brought me a tremendous amount of peace.
I no longer need every meaningful connection to become a permanent one.
Some people are chapters. Some are mirrors. Some are catalysts. And some become partners.
The deepest soul connection may actually be the one we create with ourselves.
This is the part of the journey I didn’t understand when I was younger.
I thought finding the right person would finally make me feel secure. I thought being deeply loved by another person would quiet the parts of me that were afraid.
Healing taught me something different.
No person can permanently fill a place inside us that we have abandoned ourselves.
Eventually, we have to come home—to our own intuition, our boundaries, our worth, and the parts of ourselves we gave away because we were afraid that loving ourselves fully might mean losing someone else.
Sometimes releasing a soul tie isn’t about cutting someone out of your heart. It’s about releasing the version of yourself that believed you needed that person to feel whole.
I don’t regret the connections that have challenged me. I don’t regret loving deeply. I don’t regret being vulnerable. And I don’t regret the experiences that forced me to look at myself more honestly.
They have all been part of my awakening.
But I have learned to ask different questions.
Does this connection bring me peace or constant anxiety?
Can I be myself here?
Can I communicate my needs?
Do I feel emotionally safe?
Am I being met, or am I constantly trying to be chosen?
And perhaps most importantly: Am I staying connected to myself while I am connected to someone else?
Because that, to me, is conscious intimacy.
It isn’t about avoiding attachment. It isn’t about becoming detached. And it isn’t about never allowing yourself to fall deeply in love.
It’s about being able to love someone without abandoning yourself.
Maybe that is what some of our deepest relationships are here to teach us—not how to hold onto another person, but how to finally come home to our own soul.
And when we do, we don’t have to fear losing the connection.
Because we have discovered the one connection we can never afford to lose: the one we have with ourselves.
