I remember when I first learned about mainstream manifestation. I clearly remember reading The Law of Attraction, and I was so intrigued by the concept of visualizing everything I wanted and snapping my fingers to make my wishes come true. I became a master manifester—literally everything I wanted, I got. But over time, I started realizing that these things I manifested didn’t necessarily make me feel better or more complete. If anything, I felt like I was avoiding myself through this practice. I also felt like I was manifesting from my wounds.

How could it be that I was getting everything I wanted, yet still didn’t find peace or happiness in these manifestations?

One major thing I’ve learned over the last few years on my journey of self-discovery is that manifestation without shadow work is avoidance. Manifesting from a superficial place bypasses real growth and keeps you stuck in the same patterns. For example, you may repeat abundance affirmations while holding deep beliefs about unworthiness and scarcity. You may visualize love while carrying unresolved fears of abandonment. The subconscious is powerful, and it often overrides conscious intention, leading to cycles of frustration and self-blame when results don’t appear.

Shadow work creates the foundation for true alignment by bringing awareness to the beliefs, emotions, and patterns that shape our reality. When we stop bypassing these inner layers and begin working with them, manifestation shifts from wishful thinking into embodied change.

How to Manifest Through Shadow Work

  1. Identify What You’re Afraid to Receive
Usually, the thing we want most is also what feels unsafe. Instead of asking, “What do I want to manifest?” ask yourself:
What part of this desire feels uncomfortable?
What might change if this actually happened?
  2. Work With Resistance Instead of Forcing Positivity
Contrary to popular belief, resistance isn’t failure. If affirmations feel fake or visualization feels blocked, that’s a sign something deeper wants attention. Resistance is simply information. Instead of pushing through, pause and explore:
    What belief is creating resistance?
What is this part of me trying to protect?
When resistance is acknowledged, manifestation becomes more honest and authentic.
  3. Examine the Stories You’re Living By
Recognize the narratives you’ve created around having certain things. Some common stories we hold onto are:
    – “I have to struggle to deserve good things.”
    – “If I succeed, I’ll lose connection.”
    – “Love always comes with disappointment.”

You don’t need to get rid of these stories, but you do need to be aware of them so you can notice when you’re self-sabotaging.

  4. Feel the Emotions You’re Avoiding
Manifestation is often blocked by unfelt emotions. Allowing yourself to feel sadness, anger, or fear without judgment creates internal movement. When emotions are processed instead of suppressed, the energy shifts.

  5. Align Identity With Intention
    Ask yourself:
Who will I become if this manifestation arrives?
What version of me is required to hold this?

This helps close the gap between desire and identity, making manifestation feel embodied rather than imagined.

Yasmin Elzomor - Awakened MagazineManifestation is not about becoming someone else; it’s about coming home to yourself. When shadow work and intention move together, growth becomes sustainable, honest, and deeply aligned. By meeting the parts of yourself that have been hidden or repressed, you create the inner safety needed for real change to take place.

When you manifest from this grounded place, your capacity to hold your manifestations deepens. The love you desire, the money you’re calling in, the opportunities you’ve been wanting — your nervous system finally has the capacity to receive and hold all of these blessings.

TAKE ACTION: If you’re ready to stop manifesting from effort and begin manifesting from alignment, working with Yasmin Elzomor invites you into a deeper relationship with yourself. Through shadow work, you’ll uncover the beliefs shaping your reality so manifestation becomes embodied, natural, and sustainable.
