“I don’t think I’m ready yet.”

If I had a dollar for every client who said those words, especially the intuitive, heart-centered ones, I could fund a retreat so they’d see how ready they truly are.

There’s a deeply ingrained myth in our culture, especially in the healing and helping professions, that we must reach some elusive state of wholeness before we can offer ourselves to others. We imagine a finish line of emotional, spiritual, or professional perfection, and only once we cross it will we be qualified to lead, teach, or serve.

Readiness isn’t a milestone you reach. It’s a frequency you inhabit. And often, the very act of showing up with intention is what makes us ready.

The Story: What Healing Looks Like

Take Janice, for example. She’s like many women I’ve worked with over the years: capable, thoughtful, intelligent, deeply caring, and caught in a loop of doubt. She came into my office one afternoon in emotional overwhelm. Her voice was tight, her shoulders curved inward, and she had that wired but tired look I’ve come to recognize all too well. Janice had been managing too much for too long, pushing through every wave of anxiety without pause. From the moment she entered the room, her nervous system was clearly on edge.

I didn’t try to fix anything. What I did, as I always do, was anchor myself in the state I had cultivated before she arrived. I had already set the intention to hold a grounded, coherent field of compassion and trust. This is a practice I’ve maintained since my earliest days in the healing arts, long before I became a clinician. I ground myself in breath, anchor awareness in the heart, and silently affirm that this space is safe, clear, and aligned for whatever healing wants to occur.

I listened with my full presence. Her story was important, and so was the energy moving between us. As the minutes passed, something began to shift. Her voice softened. Her posture opened. The tight edges of her field began to loosen.

We addressed her concerns and made a plan. But by the time the session ended, Janice was visibly different. Her voice had softened. Her posture had relaxed. The tears had come and gone, and something deeper had moved. She hadn’t just felt seen; she had been entrained to a different state of being.

She could feel the shift. And she said as much. “I always feel better when I leave here. It’s like I can finally breathe again.”

What she didn’t know, and what many don’t realize, is that it was more than the answers we discussed that created that shift. It was the frequency I was holding behind the words. Her system responded to a resonance intentionally cultivated, and it met her where she was, inviting her into alignment.

The Shift: Resonance is Readiness

What I’ve come to understand through years of working at the intersection of energy, psychology, and spiritual practice is that we are always transmitting. Our nervous system, our heart field, and our subtle body are broadcasting constantly. And people around us are tuning in, consciously or not.

The more consistently I practiced being in a coherent state, whether through breathwork, meditation, or intentional stillness, the more quickly and profoundly people around me respond.

This changes how we understand what it means to be “ready.” Readiness isn’t just a checklist of achievements; it’s about coherence—how our nervous system, heart, and subtle body transmit information, consciously or not. Those around us, especially during emotionally charged moments, pick up on this signal. When we see ourselves as energetic beings always communicating with our environment, we understand that our presence itself is a powerful form of leadership.

You don’t have to have all the answers. You don’t have to be perfectly healed. What matters is the quality of your state. When you are grounded, open, and attuned to your inner state, you become a regulating force in others’ lives.

This is not a metaphor. It’s measurable. Research from the HeartMath Institute shows the heart emits a strong electromagnetic field that extends several feet and aligns with others. And coherence in one person can entrain others. When one person enters a state of physiological harmony through breath, intention, or emotion, others nearby may unconsciously mirror it.

Simply put, the most coherent signal in the room organizes the rest. When you understand this, everything changes.  A single grounded person can shift a room’s emotional tone. Someone with inner calm can enter chaos and bring order without a word. Their field organizes others; sometimes instantly, sometimes subtly over time.

But beyond the science is the lived experience. You’ve likely felt this yourself. You’ve been around someone whose presence felt calming, inspiring, or safe, and found yourself breathing more deeply, thinking more clearly, or standing a little taller without knowing why. That’s the resonance effect. And it’s not reserved for experts or healers. It’s available to anyone willing to cultivate it.

The Takeaway: Your Presence is Already a Transmission

If you take only one thing from this article, let it be this: You don’t need to be “more healed” to help others. You don’t need to master another modality, get one more certification, or finally “figure yourself out” before you’re allowed to make an impact.

Your intention, combined with awareness and care, can shift others just by being in your field. That is a form of healing. And it is powerful.

Instead of asking, “Am I ready?” ask, “What state am I choosing to hold?” This shift focuses on your mindset. Work with your chosen state, moment by moment, in each interaction.

The Practice: Three Steps to Embodying Resonant Readiness

If you support others, here’s a practice to help you become more intentional with your state. Use it before sessions, meetings, conversations, or even posting online.

  1. Attune to Your Baseline
Pause before engaging. Notice your physical, emotional, and energetic state. Is your breath full or shallow? Are you present or distracted? You don’t need to fix anything—just be conscious of what you’re transmitting. That’s your starting frequency.

This alone is powerful. Most people don’t know what they’re transmitting, leading to mixed signals or friction. Simply noticing brings clarity.
  1. Set a Clear Resonant Intention
Choose a quality to anchor, like calm, compassion, or clarity. Imagine radiating it from your chest, like a tuning fork. Spend 30 seconds breathing into it. Feel it as real in your body.

You’re not forcing a mood change. You’re opening space for your energy to lead your physiology. Breath is the fastest path—minutes of heart-focused breathing can create coherence. Hold space for the state to emerge.
  1. Notice the Resonance
After the interaction, reflect. How did you feel? Did the energy shift between you and the other person? Was there a change in tone, pacing, or connection?

Don’t judge outcomes. Grow awareness of the field you hold. With practice, you’ll trust that your presence matters. Not through performance, but through coherence.

The Closing Truth: You Are Resonating Now

A persistent illusion says only the highly enlightened can guide others. This belief holds back many gifted, heart-centered women from stepping into their purpose.

This world doesn’t need more people waiting for permission to be ready. It needs people willing to show up now, intentional, humble, present, and ready to lead from where they are.

Your state of being is already speaking louder than your words. When rooted in love and coherence, your energy carries an influence that can be quietly transformative. You are already impacting the people around you. And you’re likely doing it more often than you realize.

You don’t have to wait until you feel perfectly ready or have everything resolved. Start now by being intentional about the state you hold. Trust that your current resonance is enough.

You are ready because you are resonating. You are holding a frequency that others can feel. That resonance is what lifts them up.
