Did you grow up with a cat? If so, talk to me about the connection you had with them.

Sylvie Sterling: Yeah, absolutely. I grew up with cats and dogs. I came from a very pet-friendly family, so we always had pets. They were my companions, my best friends, my teachers.

I was always an empath, though we didn’t know what that was back in the ’60s and ’70s. I was an introvert and a sensitive child. When the world seemed too much for me, I would turn to my cats and dogs for comfort. They understood me without words.

They were my best friends and my teachers. I’ve always loved dogs, and I work with them if clients ask, but cats have always been special to me. I have a deep connection with them. I would say cats are my people.

Take us back to your journey of awakening. How did that unfold for you?

Sylvie Sterling: Very late and very fast, to put it in a nutshell. I was in a corporate job for 20–25 years, working in the movie industry. I was an executive dealing with spreadsheets, numbers, and figures. It was all very stressful and fast-paced. I loved my job in the movie industry, of course. How can you not love it? But after 25 years, it became meaningless and shallow. Hollywood became fixated on box office figures. It wasn’t about the content anymore.

Sylvie Sterling

I was in my 40s when I started to break out and search for my purpose. In my mid-40s, it came to me very fast. It took me a week to figure out my purpose. It’s funny because some people search for years. But in a week, I knew I wanted to work with cats. I realized cats were my people, and I wanted to make the world better for them. It came from here—still does. There wasn’t any spirituality involved. I just thought, “I need a degree; I want to be a cat psychologist.” I assumed it would be simple—like telling people how to play with their cat, where to place the scratching post, or how to solve common cat problems.

Then, I started working with clients and their cats. It was fine, but something was still missing. I kept searching, thinking, “There’s got to be more to cats than what the books say.” That’s when I found energy healing, or rather, energy healing found me. I said, “Okay, I’ll add that.” I started reading books about what else might be out there, but nothing clicked until a cat channeled a message to me. That was my true spiritual awakening.

To tell the story quickly, I was visiting my sister-in-law in Miami. She’s very spiritual, and she has a cat. I was soaking in the spiritual energy for a few days, and before I left, I was packing my bags. Her cat jumped on the bed and stared at me. You know how cats give you those deep looks? At first, I thought it was cute—like Mystique was helping me pack. But then I realized the cat was trying to say something. I had this sudden flash—this cat was really trying to communicate.

I sat down, closed my eyes, and leaned in. I hadn’t even taken any animal communication classes, but the most amazing message came through. It wasn’t from the cat—the cat channeled a message from my star family, the Lyrans. They told me they’ve been with me all my life. I’m a Lyran Starseed, here to talk about cats and teach people that cats have a purpose. Cats come into our lives to help us find and follow our purpose.

The cat is channeling a message from the Lyran star family? Were you familiar with the Lyran star family before that, or was this your first introduction?

Sylvie Sterling: I had heard of Starseeds, and maybe I’d heard of Lyrans before, but they said they were the lion beings. I had never heard of lion beings before, ever. This came through, and I thought it was weird, but it touched something in me. It felt warm and resonated deeply.

Anyway, after that, I sat down and grabbed a post-it. I started scribbling on it just so I wouldn’t forget. Then I ran to the computer, googled “lion beings,” and said, “Oh my God, people are talking about lion beings. It’s actually a thing.” I had never heard of it before.

They also said a lot of other things, like how cats and humans are related, and how there’s so much cat DNA in humans. I hadn’t heard any of that before. For me, it was good that it came through this way, rather than the other way around. You know, sometimes you read something, it resonates, and you think, “I’m probably a Lyran.” But this time, it happened the other way around, and I had never heard of it before.

Sylvie Sterling

Did you run out to your sister and say, “Your cat just talked to me, this is crazy”? What happened?

Sylvie Sterling: I thought she would think I was crazy. I said, “Okay, I’ve got to tell you something, but please hear me out. Your cat is telling you she’s this grand lion being, I mean, this huge alien. Your cat is this huge alien.” She replied, “I’m an alien too, and I talk to her.” Luckily for me, she’s been on the spiritual path for over 30 years, so she was the right person to talk to. She said, “Yeah, of course. Now you know, so go and do something with it.”

She became a mentor for me over the years. I had no training and no knowledge of a lot of spiritual stuff. After that channeling, I had already written it on a post-it so I wouldn’t forget. That was my assignment, really. After that, it was like a huge wave hit me. Everything that takes other people years to develop came online for me in two or three months. My clair senses, telepathy, clairaudience, and clairsentience all came online really fast. It was like an avalanche. I don’t recommend it, because what usually takes people 10 years happened to me in 10 weeks. It completely changed my life.

For people who aren’t familiar with this, when you say you’re a Lyran Starseed, what does that technically mean?

Sylvie Sterling: A lot of people talk about Starseeds. The way I see it, and after doing many regressions and astral travels with people, I’ve learned from my Lyran family that a Starseed, or a Lyran Starseed, is a soul that incarnated in the Lyran star system first. Starseeds are souls that incarnated somewhere else first, and after many lives on different planets, they come here and incarnate into human bodies to help with humanity’s awakening.

There are many sleeper Starseeds out there who don’t even know they are Starseeds. Typically, these are people who feel like they’re not from here, who feel disconnected from humans. Lyran Starseeds often feel very connected to cats and find comfort in being around animals. They find it easier to connect with animals than with people. It’s usually people who say, “I have a mission, but I don’t know what it is,” or “I feel this urge to do something big, but I don’t know what it is.”

These are also the people who look up at the stars and wonder what’s out there, the ones who enjoy shows like Star Trek—the thought-provoking sci-fi, not the shoot-em-up kind. Many of these people don’t realize they’re Starseeds.

With everything you’ve described, there must be people who don’t understand your mission and make fun of you. Has that happened? If so, how do you deal with it?

Sylvie Sterling: Luckily, I haven’t had a lot of negative feedback. Maybe if you look at YouTube comments or something, if there are 200 positive comments, there might be two who say, “Well, this is weird stuff, I’m going elsewhere.” But I’ve had really good feedback. Hardly anyone thinks it’s crazy, and if they do, so be it. I really—yeah.

Sylvie Sterling - Awakened MagazineI want to talk about your latest book called The Cat Secret. I just got it yesterday and started reading it. What is the secret?

Sylvie Sterling: If I tell you the secret, then people won’t read the book anymore! That being said, The Cat Secret just came out. It’s not really a secret, because people who know me know I’m all about purpose. I talk about the purpose of cats a lot. So, the biggest secret is that cats have a beautiful, wonderful purpose. That’s the main focus of the book, but there’s so much more in it. You need to read it. My assignment was to talk about the purpose of cats, and no one else does. Do you know anyone who talks about the purpose of cats?

I don’t think I’ve come across that.

Sylvie Sterling: What I’ve found is that most people talk about how dogs have a purpose. People say dogs are our friends, they guard the house, protect the family, and do all these things. Horses have a purpose. Cows have a purpose. But the common myth is that cats don’t have a purpose. People say they just eat and sleep and do nothing else. Some claim that cats don’t even like their owners—they just do whatever they want. Nothing could be further from the truth.

My purpose became talking about the purpose of cats. A large part of the book is about how cats have a beautiful purpose, which is to help us find and follow our purpose. They are our companions and guides, helping us uncover and ultimately follow our own path. How that unfolds is covered in 200 pages of the book.

I love how the book is written, with the majority of it from the perspective of cats. It’s channeled from what you call the cat collective. What is the cat collective? And how did this book get channeled from them or through you?

Sylvie Sterling: Yes, the cat collective is basically that all the cats on this planet are connected in an invisible field of light and information, just like humans are connected. There’s a human collective field that holds all the emotions and everything that’s happening. The cats are connected in a similar field of consciousness.

The cats, like any other entity that gets channeled—some people channel the Council of Light, or the elders, or ascended masters, or angels—they speak through a person. That’s how the cats channel information through me. It’s the collective consciousness of cats on this planet, and they speak through me like any other person channeling any entity or council out there.

The way they channeled this book was not planned. I wanted to write the book. I had the idea for the title seven years ago. I knew it would be about purpose because that’s my big mission, but I had writer’s block. I started, I stopped. I just couldn’t get it to flow. It took me seven years. Last year, I finally said, “You know what? I give up. If I’m not supposed to write this book, fine.” I had already written another book in the meantime. I thought, “Maybe it’s just not going to happen.”

I gave it up to the universe. I said, “If I’m supposed to write this book, you gave me the idea. We all know how people are given ideas or concepts from the universe, from their guides, and they’re supposed to put them out into the world. If I’m supposed to write it, it’ll come about, but I’m surrendering it.”

About a week later, I felt the need to do automatic writing. Some people do that, where you put your fingers on the keyboard and just let it flow. I opened a blank page, and it started to come out. The cats and my guides, the Lyrans, were channeling the book through me. It took me three weeks. Two hundred pages came out in three weeks, and it was perfect. I didn’t even edit much afterward. Every time I thought about changing something, I said, “No, it has to stay that way because that’s how the cats said it.”

It came out perfectly written in three weeks. I realized why it wasn’t flowing before—I wasn’t ready seven years ago. I hadn’t evolved enough to do all this channeling. The cats wanted to tell the story. It wasn’t for me to write; it was for the cats to write. There we go.

Sylvie Sterling

In Chapter Four, you talk about how cats and humans are related. You also mentioned earlier that humans have a lot of cat DNA. Can you help me understand that more?

Sylvie Sterling: From a galactic standpoint, the Lyrans, or Lyran nations, put a lot of their DNA into humans. The Lyrans all have feline traits—you could call them cat people. They’re feline-human hybrids, and they, along with other star nations, contributed DNA to humans. According to my guides, the Lyrans contributed the most DNA to us. In my first channeling, they said we had more cat DNA than any other species. I knew nothing about it at the time, but they said we had more cat DNA in us. Much later, I looked it up and realized, oh my God, 90% of human DNA is identical to that of cats. Very few people know that, and I didn’t either.

People are aware that we share DNA with monkeys. In the animal kingdom, our closest relative is the chimpanzee, which shares about 98% of our DNA. That 2% difference makes a huge difference. After that, it’s cats. Scientifically, we know that 90% of our DNA is identical to cats. When you look at their personalities and behaviors, it makes sense. Cats have distinct personalities, even more so than dogs, in my opinion. They’re independent, free thinkers, and do what they want—just like us. They can’t be easily told what to do. They’re stubborn, like us.

Interestingly, cats are the number one pet in the world, ahead of dogs. There are more cats as pets than dogs in most countries. Cats often share our beds and are the only pets allowed to sleep with us. They see us as equals, not as masters. They look us in the eye, unlike dogs, which stay on the ground. Cats don’t see us as owners; they see us as partners. Cats are truly closest to us in personality, behavior, and even DNA.

In the book, you write about 12 cat archetypes. Can you walk us through a few of these archetypes? How is it helpful to think in those terms?

Sylvie Sterling: These archetypes represent the soul groups or purposes of cats. I categorized them a few years ago because I kept seeing the same patterns. Later, I realized these archetypes were actually given to me by the cats.

For example, some cats are healers. All cats are natural healers, but some emit a healing frequency that helps others emotionally and physically. They often come to people who are healers and enhance their healing abilities. Then there are supporters. These cats are very dog-like, following you around and staying close. They help you with your daily life, carrying your emotional baggage and supporting you through life’s ups and downs.

There are joy bringers, cats that are funny and cute. They do things that make us laugh and smile, which is an important role, just like how comedians are important to us. Some cats are energy workers, holding and cleansing the energy around us and our homes. Then there are teachers, muses, and mirrors. The mirrors reflect back our unresolved issues—they’re like little mini-versions of ourselves.

Each cat usually has one predominant archetype, though some have two or three aspects. Most cats, though, have one main purpose, and that’s their archetype.

Sylvie Sterling - Awakened MagazineDo you find that their archetype shifts over the course of their lifespan or as the needs of the human they’re living with change? Or, are their archetypes more fixed?

Sylvie Sterling: That’s a really good question because the archetypes usually relate to the human. The human will always have the cat they need in their life. If you need a healer, you’ll get a healer cat. Some people call it the “cat distribution system.” I don’t know if you’ve ever heard of that. The universe will send you a healer cat if that’s what you need, or a teacher cat if you need lessons in life.

The answer is yes, the archetype can change. Some humans have one task their whole life—they’re always a teacher. Others, like me, do different things, then suddenly switch to something completely new. The same goes for cats. You might have a lover cat early in life, especially if you’ve been heartbroken or gone through trauma. That cat will teach you how to love again. Later, if you become a healer, that same cat might shift and help enhance your healing powers. Sometimes, when cats get older, they retire. They may become a soulmate in the last stage of their life, no longer needing to teach or heal. So yes, they can change as their human changes and goes through different stages.

You said cats are the most prominent pet on the planet, but some people just hate cats. It seems like more men dislike them than anyone else. Do you think everyone should have a cat? If you were the empress of the world, would you make sure everyone had a cat in their home?

Sylvie Sterling: I’d make sure that people who need a cat have one, but not those who would hate or mistreat them. It’s a funny question, but honestly, I think everyone would benefit from a cat in their life. More people are getting cats now. It’s interesting—I have many people in my community who tell me they were dog people before. Then a cat showed up at their doorstep, or the neighbor’s cat insisted on moving in, or a stray cat wouldn’t leave them alone. Now they have a cat and love it, even though they never liked cats before.

The cats found them when they were ready to appreciate having one. As you said, more and more men are becoming cat lovers. I see more male cat lovers, cat dads, in my community. That’s something new because my clientele used to be mostly women. But now more men are stepping up and proudly saying, “Yes, I’m a cat lover, I’m a cat dad, and I love it.”

Sylvie Sterling

My partner Mandy had two cats when I first met her, but due to a living change, the cats needed to be transitioned to a different home. One cat was always in your face, rubbing against you. It just needed so much love—very needy. The other cat wanted you to pet it, but as soon as you were done, it would swat at you and attack—not playfully, but intensely. As someone uneducated about cats, what do you think was going on with these two cats?

Sylvie Sterling: These are the different personalities I talked about. Cats have distinct personalities. When people tell me their cat is needy and cuddly, it’s usually not the cat that’s needy. The cat might be trying to calm the person down, saying, “You need to calm down.” I’m getting the image that your partner at the time was very stressed—scattered, with a lot going on. She might have been an empath, taking on everyone’s energies.

When she came home, one cat was there to say, “Calm down, I got you,” calming her nervous system. When we hold or pet a cat, all the good hormones, like oxytocin, get released, which calms us down. I feel that cat was a lover or a supporter, trying to help your partner relax and let go.

Humans tend to be very busy. We think and overthink, and our cats see us come in with all this energy. They want us to calm down and relax. These are the cats that will sit on our laps, not let us get up, or walk over our computers, telling us to shut down the laptop because they don’t like our energy. I feel that cat was a lover and supporter, encouraging her to come into the now.

The other cat was more of an energy worker—very high-strung and high-vibe. Energy worker cats have sensitive nervous systems because they transmute and feel energies. When you pet these cats too much, it’s like zapping them with lightning. When you touch something while charged, it goes zap. That’s what it feels like to these cats. They can’t handle too much petting. If you pet them too much, they’ll bite, scratch, or say, “Get off me; I can’t handle it anymore.” It’s not personal. It’s never personal.

I feel she had a lot going on, and the cats were trying to calm her down in their own special ways. They were both there for her, and one cat just couldn’t handle it anymore and said, “Okay, I got to go.”

Sylvie Sterling

One of the things you talk about in your book is that we can communicate with cats on a spiritual level. How do you do that?

Sylvie Sterling: The good thing is anyone can learn to communicate with their cats these days. There are techniques for animal communication—the classic technique of animal communication. It works. Everybody can learn it. It’s very easy. I have classes specifically for talking to cats.

That being said, anyone who can meditate can find their connection with their spirit guides, their higher self, angels, or whatever spiritual connection they have. That’s exactly how you can connect with your cat. The next time you meditate, call in your guides or whoever you invite, and call in your cat. Your cat will appear. You might see them, hear them, feel them, or get answers.

That’s where people make a mistake. They think they need to hear an answer or hear them speak. But it’s more of a telepathic communication. Whatever message you get, you might just hear it as a thought, suddenly know it, or get an image or feeling. That’s how your cat communicates with you every day. They send you pictures and feelings all the time.

All you have to do is tune in and listen. When you’re next to your cat, close your eyes for a moment. Put your hand on your cat, and just feel what’s coming through—a feeling, an emotion, a picture, anything. Just tune in. They understand everything you say. They talk to you all the time, but we don’t make the time to hear them back. Anyone can do it these days. The veil is so thin; anyone can do it now.

Sylvie Sterling

If somebody is just getting started in this world and they’re trying to figure out how to communicate with cats, where should they start in terms of the courses that you offer?

Sylvie Sterling: I have a beginner’s course called Animal Communication Basics. Start there. Later, there are advanced courses, including a larger course on how to specifically communicate with cats. That course is called Communicate with Cats.

Start with that, and then I have energy healing classes that focus on healing specifically for cats. I also have Starseed awakening courses. There are courses for you to find your purpose; that’s my latest class. It’s connected with the cat secret. It helps you find your purpose with the help of your cat because your cat is there to do just that, and I show people the connection. Those are some of the classes I have available.

You’re going to be at the Conscious Life Expo in February of 2025 in Los Angeles, California. What are you going to be doing there?

Sylvie Sterling: I have a workshop on Saturday evening primetime. I’m looking forward to that. I’ll talk about Starseed awakening through your cat. It’s such an advanced audience, so I’ll discuss the Lyran connection between cats and the Lyrans and how they seeded us here and how our cats help us connect. My workshop is
“Starseed Awakening Through Your Cat.” I’ll also have a book signing afterward and will actually be on a panel discussion on Friday. I’m going to be on the psychic panel discussion about how to become a psychic.

I’ll bring my Kindle version of your book to have you sign it, or maybe I’ll just pick up a physical copy. I can’t wait to see you there, so be sure to check out.

Sylvie Sterling: I’ll have physical copies there, and I’ll give you a physical autograph..

Where else can people connect with you online?

Sylvie Sterling: My website is sylviesterling.com, and everything connects from there. You can go to my academy from there. You can buy the books from there; just go to the sylviesterling.com store. Every once in a while, I still offer private sessions. I don’t do that too often anymore—maybe two or three per month, if that much. I haven’t had any sessions in a long time, but if you get lucky, you might find an opening. You can book private sessions if I have any available.

Also, every once in a while, I have live classes. I’m going to have a membership program with live coaching calls. There’s also the opportunity to connect directly with me in live calls, where I can talk to you about your cat problems, just like I talked about your partner’s cats and what it means. I offer that direct connection with people because it’s important for them to know why their cat acts the way they do.

I’m a little disappointed in our conversation today, because there has not been a single cat to make an appearance. Now, do you have cats living with you now?

Sylvie Sterling: Yes, I have three wonderful cats. My little Aaron, my kitten, is a healer. He came into my life to help me heal the last bit of stuff. I have a mirror cat, my girl Sheila. She’s relentless in showing me topics that I haven’t purged yet, like trusting. She teaches me that. Then I have Leon, my joy bringer. I can turn the camera real quick if you want to. Do you see him?

Oh, so cute! What a great cat tree you have!

Cats have a beautiful purpose, which is to help us find and follow our own purposes. They are our companions, our guides.
